A method for coded data transmission between a base station () and at least one transponder () within a wireless data transmission system (), the method comprising the steps of: &#x2014;providing a set of symbols (S. . . S) for encoding data (DD), wherein the set of symbols (S. . . S) is divided into at least two sub-sets (SS, SS), and wherein each symbol (S. . . S) of the complete set is assigned to one of said at least two sub-sets (SS, SS); &#x2014;encoding said data (DD) using symbols (S. . . S) of said at least two sub-sets (SS, SS), wherein at least one encoded symbol (S. . . S) comprises several bits; &#x2014;transmitting each encoded symbol (S. . . S) within a symbol duration (SD) of an encoded data signal (DS) between said base station () and at least one transponder (), wherein the sub-set (SS, SS) assigned to each encoded symbol (S. . . S) is indicated by a value of at least one bit (LB) of each encoded symbol (S. . . S); &#x2014;identifying the value of said at least one bit (LB) of the transmitted encoded symbols within the encoded data signal (DS); &#x2014;determining the sub-set (SS, SS) assigned to each encoded symbol (S. . . S) depending on the identified value of said at least one bit (LB); and &#x2014;decoding each encoded symbol (S. . . S) according to the determined sub-set (SS, SS).

Method for coded data transmission between a base station and at least one transponder within a wireless data transmission system

An RFID transponder () comprises a demodulator () for demodulating received phase modulated carrier signals (CSQ), converting them down to a modulated baseband signal (MS) and filtering the converted signal. Sampling means () sample the filtered signal (FS) and store an actual sampling value (S(t)) and a previous sampling value (S(t)) of the filtered signal (FS). Subtracting means () calculate a difference (DS) between the actual sample value (S(t)) and the previous sample value (S(t)). Difference evaluation means () evaluate the difference (DS) according to the following criteria: a. if the difference is positive and outside of a predefined zero range (ZR) a first logical value is determined; b. if the difference is negative and outside of the zero range a second logical value is determined; c. if the difference is within the zero range the logical value of the latest evaluation is kept.
