Provided is a method of bioremediation of organic contaminated water within an annulus of an oil lubricated shaft, the method includes: (a) introducing into the annulus of said oil lubricated shaft an amount of a bioremediation combination including (i) a microbial cocktail capable of biodegrading the organic contaminants and (ii) nitrogen source, such that said bioremediation combination is brought into contact with water suspected of being contaminated in said annulus; and (b) supply into said annulus oxygen source for a time sufficient for biodegradation of at least a portion of said organic contaminants in the water within the annulus.

Method for bioremediation of contaminated water

The present invention relates to the field of drug delivery. More specifically, the invention relates to the preparation and use of a bacteriophage conjugated through a labile/non labile linker or directly to at least 1,000 therapeutic drug molecules such that the drug molecules are conjugated to the outer surface of the bacteriophage. The bacteriophage optionally displays on its coat a ligand that endows it with specificity towards target cells. Thus, there is provided a targeted, high-capacity drug delivery system useful for the treatment of various pathological conditions.

Targeted drug-carrying bacteriophages

There is provided DNA sequences isolated frompartially encoding a functional portion of a polypeptide component required for the synthesis of antibiotic TA. Also provided are purified, isolated and cloned DNA sequences encoding a polypeptide component required for postmodification of antibiotic TA and encoding a gene product involved in the regulation of the biosynthesis of antibiotic TA. A purified, isolated and cloned DNA sequence having a DNA sequence (seq. ID No:2 and 20) encoding a polypeptide component required for encoding the TA gene cluster and any mutations thereof is provided. Also provided are methods of using the TA genes for combinatorial genetics and of using the TA genes encoding for synthesis and modification or regulation of antibiotic TA.

A method and system for detecting a parameter of a host cell, a cell culture or medium is provided. A host cell is transfected with an expressible DNA sequence which is under expression control of an inducible promoter sequence. The promoter sequence is inducible in correlation with the parameter, the expressible sequence encoding an enzymatically active product which can catalyze a reaction giving rise to an electrical signal which is detectable in an electrochemical measurement. An electrical signal determined in an electrochemical system then serves as an indication for the parameter.
