The present invention concerns the use of a sphingoid-polyalkylamine conjugate as a capturing agent of biologically active molecules, such as antigens. In a particular embodiment, the spinogid-polyalkylamines are used for the preparation of pharmaceutical composition for modulating the immune response of a subject. Other aspects of the invention concern methods for modulating the immune response of a subject by the use of the conjugate, complexes comprising, the sphingoid-polyalkylamine conjugate in combination with a biologically active molecule capable of modulating an immune response of a subject, compositions comprising the conjugate as well as kits making use of said conjugate. A preferred conjugate according to the invention is N palmitoyl D-erythro sphingosyl 1 carbamoyl spermine.

Sphingoid polyalkylamine conjugates for vaccination

The present invention concerns the use of a sphingoid-polyalkylamine conjugate as a capturing agent of biologically active molecules, such as antigens. In a particular embodiment, the spinogid-polyalkylamines are used for the preparation of pharmaceutical composition for stimulating or enhancing an immune response of a subject to protect against Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection. Other aspects of the invention concern methods for stimulating or enhancing an immune response of a subject to protect against Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection, by the use of the sphingoid-polyalkylamine conjugate, complexes comprising the sphingoid-polyalkylamine conjugate and a biologically active molecule, the latter, having an effect of stimulating or enhancing an immune response of a subject against to protect Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) infection, as well as kits making use of said conjugates and complexes. A preferred conjugate according to the invention is N-palmitoyl D-erythro sphingosyl-1-carbamoyl spermine (CCS).

Sphingoid polyalkylamine conjugates for Hepatitis B virus vaccination

A method of antitumor therapy is described in which administration of a chemotherapeutic drug, encapsulated in liposomes, is supplemented by administration of an immunostimulating cytokine. The cytokine is preferably also encapsulated in liposomes. In tumor models for lung and colon carcinomas, this method produced a significantly greater therapeutic effect, as evidenced by survival rate and tumor size, than a combination of the effects produced by the free or liposome-encapsulated components administered individually.

Combined chemo-immunotherapy with liposomal drugs and cytokines

Subunit influenza vaccines containing an influenza H/N antigen and a cytokine immunopotentiator, where at least one and preferably both are encapsulated in liposomes, are described. The vaccines stimulate a strong humoral and CTL response. Also described are methods of immunization using such vaccines.
