The invention relates to a process and a system for 3-dimentional (3D) fabrication of sub-micron structures and is established by local electrochemical deposition methods.

Meniscus-confined three-dimensional electrodeposition

A rhenium (Re) nanostructure is described. The rhenium nanostructure is an elongated nanostructure, such as, nanowire, nanorod, nanotube, branched nanostructure, and hollow nanostructure. The Re nanostructure may be a binary Re-metal nanotube, a binary Re-metal nanowire, and a binary Re-metal nanorod. The binary Re-metal nanostructure is a nanostructure composed of Re and at least one metal or non-metal. The metal may be In, Sn, Sb, Pb, and/or Bi. The nanostructure is in powder or in liquid form.

Rhenium nanostructures

A humidity sensor and a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) therefor, for measuring low humidity levels, and a method for preparing same. The metallic surface of the QCM is electroplated with a hygroscopic layer. The hygroscopic layer preferably includes Manganese. A salt is formed on the hygroscopic layer. The salt is preferably salt of Manganese, and most preferably Manganese Chloride (MnCl2).
