A method of applying RF energy to an object in a cavity is disclosed. In some embodiments, the method may include applying to the object a first amount of RF energy at power increasing from an initial power level to a final power level; and if an electrical discharge occurs, stopping RF energy application for a period sufficient to allow the electrical discharge to decay. The method may further include applying to the object a second amount of RF energy after the period ends. The second amount of RF energy may be applied at intermediate power, higher than the initial power level and lower than the final power level.

Method for detecting dark discharge and device utilizing the method

An apparatus applies electromagnetic (EM) energy at a plurality of modulation space elements (MSEs) to an object in an energy application zone via at least one radiating element. The apparatus includes at least one processor and a memory that includes instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to perform operations. The operations include receiving information sensed by a detector and determining an energy application schedule based on the information sensed by the detector, the energy application schedule comprising timing instructions for applying the EM energy at an irregular order of MSEs, and causing application of the EM energy at the plurality of MSEs to the object in the energy application zone via the at least one radiating element, according to the energy application schedule determined.

Methods and devices for applying RF energy according to energy application schedules

Electromagnetic energy is applied to an object at multiple modulation space elements (MSEs). MSEs are grouped into at least a first subset and a second subset according to a first grouping rule. A first EM energy application protocol is associated with the first subset and a second EM energy application protocol is associated with the second subset. Energy is applied at each of the plurality of MSEs according to the first EM energy application protocol and the second EM energy application protocol. MSEs are grouped into a third subset and a fourth subset according to a second grouping rule. A third EM energy application protocol is associated with the third subset and a fourth EM energy application protocol is associated with the fourth subset. EM energy at each of the plurality of MSEs is applied according to the third EM energy application protocol and the fourth EM energy application protocol.

The present disclosure relates to an apparatus for processing objects with RF energy. The apparatus may include a display for displaying to a user an image of an object to be processed, the image including at least a first portion and a second portion of the object. The apparatus may also include an input unit and at least one processor configured to: receive information based on input provided to the input unit; and generate, based on the received information, processing information for use in processing the object to achieve a first processing result in the first portion of the object and a second processing result in the second portion of the object.

Interface for controlling energy application apparatus

Radiofrequency energy is applied to a container having an outer housing and an inner housing disposed at least partially within the outer housing. At least a portion of the inner housing is transparent to RF radiation. At least one antenna is configured to apply RF energy to an energy application zone within the inner housing. A processor is configured to control the application of RF energy to the energy application zone by selecting a set of modulation space elements (MSEs), and cause RF energy application at the modulation space elements of the selected set.

Device and method for applying electromagnetic energy to a container

An apparatus for applying electromagnetic (EM) energy to an object in an energy application zone via at least one radiating element at a plurality of modulation space elements (MSEs) is disclosed. The apparatus comprises: at least one processor configured to determine an amount of energy to be supplied to the at least one radiating element at a first subset of the plurality of MSEs, determine an energy application schedule comprising timing instructions for applying energy at at least a subset of the plurality of MSEs, and cause application of energy according to the determined amounts of energy and the determined energy application schedule.
