The present application relates to surgical clip appliers having a plurality of clips for applying the clips to body tissues and vessels during surgical procedures and their methods of use and specifically to a reusable counter mechanism for use with a surgical clip applier. The surgical clip applier includes a housing, at least one handle pivotably connected to the housing, a channel assembly extending distally from the housing, a plurality of clips loaded in the channel assembly, a drive channel translatably supported in the housing and the channel assembly and being translatable upon actuation of the at least one handle, and a reusable counter mechanism removably insertable into a counter slot extending into the housing and engagable with the drive channel. The counter mechanism is configured display indicia corresponding to a quantity of clips and to update the indicia upon translation of the drive channel.

A surgical clip applier is provided including a housing; at least one handle pivotably connected to the housing; a channel assembly extending distally from the housing; a jaw assembly including a pair of jaws extending from an end of the channel assembly, opposite the housing, the jaw assembly adapted to accommodate a clip of a plurality of clips loaded in the clip applier and being operable to effect formation of the clip in response to movement of the at least one handle; and a dissector bar supported on the housing and the channel assembly, wherein the dissector bar is actuatable from the housing and includes a proximal position wherein a distal end of the dissector bar is disposed proximal of a distal-most end of the jaw assembly, and at least one distal position wherein the distal end of the dissector bar projects beyond the distal-most end of the jaw assembly.

A surgical instrument includes a selectively rotatable housing, an adaptor, and a shaft including an end effector. The adaptor is coupled to the housing and is selectively movable between a first position and a second position. The shaft is coupled to one or both of the housing and the adaptor. The end effector is articulable in response to the selective rotation of the housing. The end effector is articulable toward a first direction when the adaptor is positioned in the first position and articulable toward a second direction when the adaptor is positioned in the second position. The first and second directions are different.

A surgical apparatus is disclosed that is configured and dimensioned to create an internal surgical worksite. The surgical apparatus includes a dissection element that is repositionable between an unexpanded condition, wherein the dissection element defines a first outer transverse cross-sectional dimension, and an expanded condition, wherein the dissection element defines a second, larger outer transverse cross-sectional dimension. The surgical apparatus further includes a restrictor that is in contact with the dissection element in order to restrict expansion of the dissection element in at least one direction.

A surgical device for performing surgery includes a handle assembly, an elongate member extending from the handle assembly, an articulation mechanism, and an adapter. The elongate member has articulating and straight sections. The articulating section is configured to articulate with respect to the straight section. The adapter rotatably couples the elongate member with the articulation mechanism such that when the elongate member is in a first rotational orientation with respect to the articulation mechanism, the articulating section articulates toward a first direction relative to the straight section upon movement of the handle assembly towards the first direction with respect to the straight section and when the elongate member is in a second rotational orientation with respect to the articulation mechanism, the articulating section articulates toward a second direction relative to the straight section upon movement of the handle assembly towards the first direction with respect to the straight section.

Dual directional articulation hand instrument

A specimen retrieval device is provided. The specimen retrieval device includes a housing that includes an outer shaft extending distally therefrom. An inner shaft is disposed within the outer shaft and includes a spring including two or more members. One or both of the members includes a support member interface member. A pouch is releasably couplable to the members and includes a cinch having a proximal end that is passable through the outer shaft for grasping by a user. The pouch includes a pair of openings that lead to a sleeve that is provided on the pouch. Each of the openings is configured to receive a respective one of the members so as to allow the support member interface member on the member(s) to engage a corresponding pocket on the pouch.

A surgical access apparatus includes an access member defining a longitudinal axis and having a longitudinal passageway for reception and passage of a surgical object and an access housing mountable to the access member. The access housing includes a diaphragm mounted thereto. The diaphragm is adapted for rotational movement about the longitudinal axis relative to the access housing. The diaphragm defines at least one internal pocket and has a seal assembly disposed within the internal pocket. The seal assembly has an interface seal member adapted for establishing a fluid tight seal about the surgical object. The seal assembly is adapted for selective movement within the pocket about multiple axes in response to manipulation of the surgical object.

An instrument cleaning apparatus facilitates the cleaning of a scope utilized during a surgical procedure. The instrument cleaning apparatus includes a base portion and a fluid retention portion. The base portion includes a substantially tubular wall having a proximal end and a distal end and a longitudinal passageway extending therethrough. The fluid retention portion is in mechanical cooperation with the base portion and is adapted to retain a cleaning fluid therein. The fluid retention portion may be contacted by the scope.

An access assembly configured to receive one or more surgical instruments is provided. The access assembly includes a flexible housing having a proximal end and a distal end, the housing defining a longitudinal passageway extending from the proximal end to the distal end and a seal assembly received within the longitudinal passageway of the housing. The seal assembly defining a plurality of ports each configured to receive an instrument inserted therethrough in a sealing manner.
