An optical system is provided that includes a conduit fitting, a first connector, a first conduit, a first ferrule and a first nut. The conduit fitting includes a receptacle. The first connector is disposed within the receptacle. The first connector includes a first bore, a first counterbore and a first port radially outboard of the first bore. The first conduit includes a first optics line and a first fluid passage. The first conduit projects longitudinally into the first counterbore and is attached to the first connector. The first optics line projects longitudinally into the first bore. The first fluid passage is fluidly coupled with the first port. The first ferrule circumscribes the first connector. The first nut is threaded onto the conduit fitting and is configured to wedge the first ferrule radially between the first connector and the conduit fitting.

Coupling optical fibers and cooling fluid passages

A lead cooling assembly includes a cooling jacket including a tubular section having an exterior portion and an interior portion, where the interior portion is proportioned to surround a probe lead and provide space for a flow of a gaseous coolant. The lead cooling assembly also includes an intake configured to admit the gaseous coolant into the interior portion of the cooling jacket. The lead cooling assembly further includes a collar configured to fit over the exterior portion of the cooling jacket, where the collar includes one or more exit holes configured to pass the gaseous coolant out of the interior portion of the cooling jacket.

A measurement system is provided that includes a probe assembly. The probe assembly includes a capacitance probe and an optical probe. The capacitance probe includes a capacitance sensor that forms a sensor face of the probe assembly. An aperture projects axially through the capacitance sensor to the sensor face. The optical probe is configured with an optical line of sight through the aperture into a volume adjacent the sensor face.

The threaded fastener is retained to the sensor body via deforming a threaded interface between the threaded fastener and the sensor body. A method of installing an instrumentation probe to a component of a gas turbine engine includes installing a sensor assembly of the instrumentation probe through a component wall, securing a threaded fastener to a complimentary thread of the sensor assembly to retain the sensor body, and deforming a threaded interface between the threaded fastener and the sensor assembly to prevent rotation of the threaded fastener relative to the sensor assembly.

A packing sub-assembly for a fitting assembly for an instrumentation lead, including: a first component; a second component; and a third component, the first component, the second component and the third component each being configured to interlock with each other to define an opening that passes through the packing sub-assembly, and each defining a portion of the opening and having an open area adjacent to the portion that defines the opening and wherein the open area is sealed by an adjacent one of the first component, the second component and the third component when the first component, the second component and the third component are interlocked together.

A wireless sensor system of a gas turbine engine of an aircraft can include a plurality of wireless sensors distributed within an engine core of the gas turbine engine and an energy harvesting system including one or more energy harvesting devices configured to convert mechanical or thermal energy within the gas turbine engine into electric power and provide the electric power to the wireless sensors. The wireless sensor system can also include a data concentrator coupled to the gas turbine engine. The data concentrator can be configured to receive a plurality of wireless sensor data from the wireless sensors and transmit the wireless sensor data to a communication adapter of the gas turbine engine.

An angled face cap probe includes a housing having a radially inner end and a radially outer end, defining a cavity, and configured to be located radially outward from an airfoil. The angled face cap probe further includes a sensor located in the cavity at the radially inner end of the housing, having a sensor body with a sensing face that is angled to match or substantially match an angle of a radially outward face the airfoil, and having a sensor flat that is elongated in a first direction. The angled face cap probe further includes an outer cap located in the cavity, coupled to the housing, and having an outer cap main body and cap legs that extend radially inward from the outer cap main body to interface with the sensor flat to resist rotation of the sensor relative to the housing.

Each sensor target of the one or more sensor targets includes a target surface having a variable distance between the target surface and the proximity sensor with rotation of the rotatable component about a component axis of rotation. A measurement of distance between the proximity sensor and the target surface as measured by the proximity sensor is indicative of an angular position of the rotatable component relative to the component axis of rotation.

The radial flow separation wall comprising: a splitter hoop located radially outward from blades in a first flow path of the gas turbine engine, the splitter hoop being about concentric to a blade path of the blades; and one or more guide vane bases attached to a guide vane located radially outward from the splitter hoop in a second flow path, each of the one or more guide vane bases being securely attached to a radially outward surface of the splitter hoop, wherein the blade clearance sensor is configured to detect a blade clearance between the blades and the splitter hoop.
