Various embodiments relate to compositions including a viscosifying non-ionic associative polymer for treatment of subterranean formations. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of treating a subterranean formation. The method includes placing in the subterranean formation a composition including a viscosifying non-ionic associative polymer including at least one hydrophilic block and at least one hydrophobic group that is at each occurrence an independently selected substituted or unsubstituted (C-C)hydrocarbyl group.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for using aldehydes as a catalyst for oxidative breakers. An embodiment of the present disclosure is a method comprising: providing a treatment fluid that comprises: an aqueous base fluid, a polymeric gelling agent, a breaker that comprises an oxidative salt, and a catalyst that comprises an aldehyde; allowing the breaker to interact with the polymeric gelling agent; and allowing the viscosity of the treatment fluid to reduce.

A method of foam fracturing a subterranean formation includes providing an fracturing foam fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid, a cationic polymer, optionally a foam surfactant comprising at least one of an amphoteric surfactant, cationic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, and combinations thereof, and sufficient gas to form a foamed fracturing fluid; and fracturing the subterranean formation with the foamed fracturing fluid. Stable fracturing foams include an aqueous base fluid, a cationic polymer, optionally a foam surfactant comprising at least one of an amphoteric surfactant, cationic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, and combinations thereof, and sufficient gas to form a foamed fracturing fluid.

A method of treating a subterranean formation includes providing capsules comprising at least one of a mineral acid, a Lewis acid, a hydrolysable acid precursor, and mixtures thereof; providing a carrier fluid; placing the capsules and the carrier fluid into a zone in a shale formation, the zone comprising fractures; allowing the capsules to at least partially dissolve. Upon the hydrolysis of the acid, etching of the faces of the fractures occurs.

A method is provided for improved degradation of metal-crosslinked polymer gels, which are useful in oil and gas treating operations. In this method a polysaccharide having a higher degree of substitution than the polymer in the polymer gel is added to the gel. The polysaccharide removes the crosslinking metal ion from the gel to thus break down the gel and reduce its viscosity.
