Techniques to handle calls to web services via a service proxy are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a technique includes an intermediate server receiving a request from a client device to the web service at a target server. In response to receiving the request, the intermediate server can authenticate the received request from the client device and upon successful authentication of the received request, forward the request to the targeted server and invoking the web service to process the forwarded request because the intermediate server is authenticated with the target server. The technique can also include receiving, at the intermediate server, data from the target server that represents execution results of the request by the web service at the target server. Upon receiving the data, the intermediate server can then forward to the client device, the data representing execution results of the request by the web service at the target server.

A method for facilitating focused use of an email client includes entering an inbox pause mode and pausing display of at least some new email messages and email notifications while in the inbox pause mode. The method also includes detecting, while in the inbox pause mode, a selection by a user of a previously received email message that was received prior to entering the inbox pause mode. The method also includes displaying, while in the inbox pause mode, information about a subsequently received email message that is received subsequent to entering the inbox pause mode and that belongs to a conversation comprising the previously received email message.

Inline document collaboration workflows are provided. When a user receives an electronic communication that includes an attached content item, the receiving user may select the attached content item and cause the attached content item to be displayed in an immersive view in proximity to an electronic communication pane in which an electronic communication may be conducted about any topic including the content item that is displayed in proximity to the electronic communication pane. During editing of a content item, an electronic communication may be generated from a user interface in which the content item is being generated, or alternatively a new content item may be generated out of an electronic communications user interface.

Described herein are systems and methods for transporting an electronic communication that includes one or more attachments efficiently by sending the electronic communication with a smaller-sized (e.g., lower resolution) representational element of each attachment and subsequently replacing each representational element with a higher resolution attachment thumbnail of the attachment. The high resolution attachment thumbnail is produced in an asynchronous process during or after the transportation of the attachment(s) and the electronic communication. After the high resolution attachment thumbnail(s) is generated, at least one representational element in the electronic communication may be replaced with a corresponding HR attachment thumbnail.

Electronic communication-based storage of content items to support multiple workflows is provided. When an attached content item is received with an electronic communication, a receiving user may select the attached content item for review and editing in an immersive view pane that may be launched adjacent to or in proximity to an electronic mail viewing pane. When the received content item is edited, a copy of the edited content item is temporarily stored with the electronic communication with which the content item was received at an associated electronic communication server. When the receiving user then desires to dispose of the edited content item, for example, by replying back to the sending user with the edited content item as an attachment, the edited content item may be retrieved from the electronic communication server automatically for attachment to the responsive communication.

Electronic communication-based storage of documents to support multiple workflows

Extraction and provision of message identification information to a productivity application for enabling the productivity application to provide an embedded communication experience in association with an attachment file is provided. A message including an attachment is received via a messaging application. Upon receiving a selection to open the attachment from within the messaging application, the attachment file is opened in a productivity application, and various parameters associated with the message are extracted. A path including the various parameters is constructed and passed to a productivity application, thus allowing the productivity application to provide a persisted conversation in a user interface of the productivity application for viewing of and interaction with the conversation.

Opening an attachment and conversation from a messaging application

Various parts of email content or entire emails may be recalled or modified after delivery through the use of links to cloud-storage, where the various parts of the email content may be stored. Different notification and modification methods may be employed to modify delivered content even after it is rendered for a recipient. While recipients may have a latest version of the email content, senders may be enabled to see a version history of changes in delivered email content.

Computing systems configured to efficiently attach files to emails are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a mobile device can include a processor, a camera, and a memory operatively coupled to the processor. The memory contains instructions executable by the processor to cause the computing device to capture, via the camera, an image of a machine-readable label shown on a display of a client device used to compose a draft email and decode the captured image of the machine-readable label to derive a network address of a webpage, an authentication token, and an email identification identifying the draft email. The mobile device can also load the webpage in a web browser, and upon receiving an input to upload a file, transmit the digital file to an upload server along with the decoded authentication token and the email identification for attaching the file to the draft email.

Efficient attachment of files from mobile devices

An adaptive layout and workflow engine. The adaptive layout and workflow engine allows various applications to dynamically render scaled views of content based on the characteristics of the display on the device being used to consume the content. The adaptive layout and workflow engine may select an appropriate view of the content to render based on the size, resolution, or aspect ratio of the display. The rendered size of the content and/or the user interface of the content application is evaluated relative to the characteristics of the display. Embodiments may provide different controls via the user interfaces based on the characteristics of the display and/or content. The adaptive layout and workflow engine may provide customized work flows via the user interface to improve the user experience depending on the display capabilities of the device used to consume the content.

Parsed attachments from email communications may be sorted. In some examples, an application, such as an email processing application, may display email summaries associated with emails within an email summary view of the email application interface. A selected email associated with a selected email summary may be displayed in an email view. The email processing application may identify one or more attachments within the emails. Attachment summaries associated with the one or more attachments may be displayed within an attachment summary view of the email application interface.
