The present invention provides methods and systems that provide for reliable, convenient, and noninvasive assessment of hydration status. The methods and apparatuses can use the temporal sequence of the aortic value opening and closing along with the user's body position to derive parameters that determine the hydration status of the user. The user can use this information to make near-term lifestyle changes that can improve physical performance, health, and general wellbeing.

Hydration assessment system

The systems and methods described herein provide hands free motor control mechanisms based on the natural and inherent movements associated with an activity of interest, and can be combined with gestures or verbal communication based upon pre-defined movements by the participant.

Motor control system based upon movements inherent to self-propulsion

Method and systems are provided for reliable, convenient, self-administered, and cost-effective determination of central venous pressure. The noninvasive method and apparatus use changes in transmural pressure to create detectable changes in peripheral venous vascular volume for the determination of central venous pressure. Transmural pressure changes can be manifested by intravascular or extravascular pressure changes. The system is noninvasive and uses optical measurements of venous volume in the presence of transmural pressure changes. The relationship between the transmural pressure change and the change in vascular venous volume is combined with anatomical measurements to determine the central venous pressure of the subject. Central venous pressure can be used to determine hemodynamic status of the subject to include fluid overload in the heart failure patient.

Methods and apparatuses for central venous pressure measurement status

Embodiments of the present invention provide reliable, convenient, and cost-effective methods and apparatuses to determine the hemodynamic status of the patent. The methods and apparatuses provide for the noninvasive determine of hemodynamic status by using systematic perturbations of venous return or trend observation over time. Embodiments do not require invasive pressure monitoring or the use of ventilator but instead can be an entirely noninvasive system.

Methods and apparatuses for assessment and management of hemodynamic status

Method and systems provide for reliable, convenient, and cost-effective personalized assessment of hemodynamic status in the ambulatory heart failure patient. The method and apparatus use pulse contour analysis of data obtained through observation of the patient for determination of hemodynamic status, and for determination of day-to-day changes in hemodynamic status. Observational assessment of the patient includes monitoring during activities of daily living including sleeping, sitting and standing. These activities create changes in venous return that are used to evaluate cardiac function or changes in cardiac function. The method and system infer body position by using position and motion information obtained by the system. Changes in cardiac function over time or due to changes in body pose are evaluated for the assessment of hemodynamic status, with a focus on changes resulting from fluid overload.

Observational heart failure monitoring system

Technologies for measuring a hydration level of a user includes a hydration measurement device having an arm position sensor and one or more reflectance sensors. The hydration measurement device generates sensor data indicative of a position of a user's arm using the arm position sensor. The hydration measurement device performs reflectance measurements with the reflectance sensor(s) at a first position that is determined based on the sensor data and a second position that is raised relative to the first position that is also based on the sensor data. The hydration measurement device determines a hematocrit of the user's blood based on the reflectance measurements and determines a hydration level of the user based on the determined hematocrit. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Technologies for measuring hydration level of a user

One or more processors may be configured to receive, via a radio from one or more sensors, one or more streams of sensor values indicating: (1) accelerations of a boxer's arm within a first range of acceleration, measured by a first acceleration sensor, (2) accelerations of a boxer's arm within a second range of acceleration, measured by a second acceleration sensor, and (3) rotation of the boxer's arm measured by a gyroscope sensor. The one or more processors may be configured to determine, based on the received sensor values from the first acceleration sensor, whether a punch landed but not to measure a force or velocity of the punch. The one or more processors may be configured to determine, based on the received sensor values from the second acceleration sensor, at least one of a force or a velocity of the punch but not to detect whether the punch landed.
