Processes and apparatuses for recovering a high purity carbon dioxide stream. A first separation zone that may include a cryogenic fractionation column provides the high-purity COstream. A vapor stream from the cryogenic fractionation column is passed to a second separation zone to separate the COfrom the other components. The second separation zone may include a pressure swing adsorption unit or a solvent separation unit. The second separation zone provides a hydrogen enriched gas stream that may be used in a gas turbine. The second stream from the second separation zone includes carbon dioxide and, after a pressure increase in a compressor, may be recycled to the first separation zone.

Apparatuses and processes for the recovery of carbon dioxide streams

A membrane unit is able to recover hydrogen from a resid waste gas stream. Two membrane units provide even greater hydrogen recovery. The membrane separation is performed at conditions that allow the pressure of the recovered hydrogen to enter into a second stage of compression, saving the expense of the first stage of compression.

Process and apparatus for recovering hydrogen from residue hydroprocessing

The process can be used in any hydrocarbon process in which it is desirable to recover hydrogen. The process can include catalytically reforming a hydrocarbon feed, a paraffin dehydrogenation to produce light olefins or a synthesis gas generating process. There is an effluent stream having hydrogen and hydrocarbons that is first sent to an adsorption zone to produce a pure hydrogen stream and a tail gas stream. The tail gas stream is then sent across a feed side of a membrane having the feed side and a permeate side. The membrane that is selected is selective for hydrogen over one or more C1-C6 hydrocarbons and light ends including CO, CO2, N2 and O2, and withdrawing from the permeate side a permeate stream enriched in hydrogen compared with a residue stream withdrawn from the feed side. The permeate stream is then recycled to be sent through the adsorption zone.

Process for maximizing hydrogen recovery

The invention involves a process for treating a gas stream from a hydroprocessor that contains hydrogen, methane and C+ hydrocarbons. In embodiments of the invention, the gas stream is sent through at least two pressure swing adsorption units to produce a high quality hydrogen stream, a fuel gas stream containing most of the methane and a tail gas stream that is sent to a steam cracker. Lean gas from a gas plant and other refinery off gases may also be processed together with the gas stream from the hydroprocessor.

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for catalytic reforming. The process can include catalytically reforming a hydrocarbon feed in a reaction zone, obtaining an effluent stream having hydrogen and hydrocarbons from the reaction zone, obtaining from at least a portion of the effluent stream a waste hydrocarbon stream from an adsorption zone, passing at least a portion of the waste hydrocarbon stream as a feed stream across a feed side of a membrane having the feed side and a permeate side, and being selective for hydrogen over one or more C1-C6 hydrocarbons, and withdrawing from the permeate side a permeate stream enriched in hydrogen compared with a residue stream withdrawn from the feed side.

Process for catalytic reforming

Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for reforming of hydrocarbons including recovery of products are provided. In one example, a method comprises separating a reforming-zone effluent into a net gas phase stream and a liquid phase hydrocarbon stream. The net gas phase stream is separated for forming an H-rich stream and a first intermediate liquid phase hydrocarbon stream. The H-rich stream is contacted with an adsorbent to form an H-ultra rich stream and a PSA tail gas stream. The PSA tail gas stream is contacted with an H/hydrocarbon separation membrane to separate the PSA tail gas stream and form an H-ultra rich permeate stream and a PSA tail gas hydrocarbon-containing non-permeate residue stream.

Methods and apparatuses for reforming of hydrocarbons including recovery of products using a recovery zone, a pressure swing adsorption zone, and a membrane separation zone

Increasing the economic and environmental compatibility in treatment processes in sour gas production. For 25 yr, Mobil Erdgas Erdoel GmbH (MEEG) has been treating considerable amounts of sour gas in N. Germany. In 9 fields with different gas qualities, there are ca 30 producing wells. The main processes of the sour gas production and treatment are described. The gas is dried at the well site and if the reservoir pressure is not sufficient, compressed for transportation to the central processing facility. In most cases the use of sulfur solvents is necessary at the wells. Natural gas scrubbers for the total removal of hydrogen sulfide and Claus units with downstream units to obtain sulfur are utilized. To increase the environmental compatibility and economics, a number of secondary processes have been introduced for emission control; glycol stripping; and the Purisol, Selexol, Sulfinol, and Claus processes.
