A method for detecting and quantifying allergen components of a substance is described herein. A method can include obtaining an Ig sample derived from two or more individuals, and one or more capillaries comprising allergenic biologics adhered thereto. The Ig sample can be applied to the one or more capillaries and allergen component and molecules that has bound with the Ig sample, can be detected in the one or more capillaries. A molecular weight and/or frequency of appearance, an isoelectric charge and/or frequency of appearance, a molecular functional group and/or frequency of appearance or a combination thereof, of the allergen component can be recorded. Furthermore, methods for determining the minimum and maximum concentrations of the detected allergen components for pre-determined platforms, formulating an allergen product using the determined concentration ranges and applying the allergen product to result an effective assay are described.

Methods and apparatus that mix a plurality of individual capture reagents for the diagnostic assays are described herein. In an embodiment, a system for optically analyzing a patient sample includes an automated immunochemistry analyzer storing a plurality of capture reagents and a plurality of paramagnetic particles, a user interface configured to allow a selection of a combination of two or more of the capture reagents, and a logic implementer configured to cause the automated immunochemistry analyzer to (i) mix together each capture reagent of the combination of two or more of the capture reagents; (ii) bind the mixture of the combination of two or more of the capture reagents to the paramagnetic particles; (iii) bind the patient sample to the bound mixture of the combination of two or more of the capture reagents; and (iv) optically analyze the patient sample.

A quantitative method for diagnosing an autoimmune disease or an infectious disease comprising performing an automated diagnostic assay, comprising: incubating a capture reagent with a streptavidin-coated medium to form a solid phase complex, wherein the capture reagent is a biotinylated autoantigen or infectious disease antigen; washing the solid phase complex to remove excess capture reagent; incubating the solid phase complex with a serum sample to form an immune complex; washing the immune complex to remove any unbound sample; incubating the immune complex with a conjugate to create an immune-conjugate complex; washing the immune-conjugate complex to remove any unbound conjugate; introducing a substrate capable of generating a quantifiable response; and calibrating the response generated from introducing the substrate.
