A system comprises a transmitter including first circuitry that generates a first frame of a first type for establishing a quantum-secure link with an endpoint according to a security protocol, a data source that generates a second frame of a second type for communicating data to the endpoint, an output that couples to the endpoint via a first communication channel, and second circuitry. The second circuitry selects either the first frame or the second frame, adds information to the selected frame that identifies the selected frame as being of the first type or the second type to form an output frame, and outputs the output frame to the output.

Devices, systems, and methods for integrating encryption service channels with a data path

A routing controller () includes an interface () and multiple processors (). The interface is configured to receive a permutation () defining requested interconnections between N input ports and N output ports of a Benes network (). The Benes network includes multiple 2-by-2 switches (), and is reducible in a plurality of nested subnetworks associated with respective nesting levels, down to irreducible subnetworks including a single 2-by-2 switch. The multiple processors are configured to collectively determine a setting of the 2-by-2 switches that implements the received permutation, including determining sub-settings for two or more subnetworks of a given nesting level in parallel, and to configure the multiple 2-by-2 switches of the Benes network in accordance with the determined setting.

An optoelectronic component may include a substrate, an electronic integrated circuit supported by the substrate, and a photonic integrated circuit supported by the substrate. The optoelectronic component may include a plurality of substrate interconnect connectors disposed on the substrate, a plurality of electronic integrated circuit interconnect connectors disposed on the electronic integrated circuit, and a plurality of photonic integrated circuit interconnect connectors disposed on the photonic integrated circuit. In various examples, a 3D representation of an environment may be generated from sensor data, with objects being detected in the environment using the sensor data and stored as items that can be tracked and located within the 3D representation. The 3D representation of the environment and item information may be used to determine (e.g., identify or predict) a location or position of an item within the 3D representation and/or recommend a storage location for the item within the 3D representation. Using a determined location or position, one or more routes to the location through the 3D representation may be determined. Data corresponding to a determined route may be provided to a user and/or device. User preferences, permissions, roles, feedback, historical item data, and/or other data associated with a user may be used to further enhance various aspects of the disclosure.

3D environment reconstruction for persistent object tracking

Bi-directional quantum interconnects are provided that include a first communication module and a second communication module. The first communication module includes a first quantum transmitter and a first quantum receiver, and the second communication module includes a second quantum transmitter and a second quantum receiver. The example interconnect further includes a first communication medium communicably coupling the first communication module and the second communication module such that communication is provided between the first quantum transmitter and the second quantum receiver and between the second quantum transmitter and the first quantum receiver via the first communication medium. Embodiments are disclosed for facilitating quantum computing over classical and quantum communication channels. An example system includes a network interface card (NIC) apparatus. The NIC apparatus includes an optical receiver, an embedded processor, and a network switch. The optical receiver is configured to receive qubit data via a first communication channel associated with quantum communication. The embedded processor is configured to convert the qubit data into binary bit data. The network switch is configured to output the binary bit data via a second communication channel associated with classical network communication.

Methods for forming an at least partially oxidized confinement layer of a semiconductor device and corresponding semiconductor devices are provided. The method comprises forming two or more layers of a semiconductor device on a substrate. The layers include an exposed layer and a to-be-oxidized layer. The to-be-oxidized layer is disposed between the substrate and the exposed layer. The method further comprises etching, using a masking process, a pattern of holes that extend through the exposed layer at least to a first surface of the to-be-oxidized layer. Each hole of the pattern of holes extends in a direction that is transverse to a level plane that is parallel to the first surface of the to-be-oxidized layer. The method further comprises oxidizing the to-be-oxidized layer through the pattern of holes by exposing the two or more layers of the semiconductor device to an oxidizing gas to form a confinement layer.

A method for distributed allocation of data paths in an optical network () including optical switches () connected by optical links (), includes receiving a request for a data path for connecting a source node () and a destination node (). In in response to the request, one or more queries are sent, the queries corresponding to one or more candidate optical circuits that connect the source node and the destination node, the queries requesting one or more processors () to configure the optical switches along the candidate optical circuits to reserve optical channels on the optical links of the candidate optical circuits for the requested data path. An optical circuit is identified from among the candidate optical circuits, in which all the optical channels for the requested data path have been reserved successfully. The requested data path is established over the identified optical circuit.

Distributed optical circuit allocation in optical data-center networks (ODCN)

A vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) is provided that includes a mesa structure disposed on a substrate. The mesa structure defines an emission axis of the VCSEL. The mesa structure includes a first reflector, a second reflector, and a cascaded active region structure disposed between the first reflector and the second reflector. The cascaded active region structure includes a plurality of cascaded active region layers disposed along the emission axis, where each of the cascade active region layers includes an active region having multi-quantum well and/or dots layers (MQLs), a tunnel junction aligned with the emission axis, and an oxide confinement layer. The oxide confinement layer is disposed between the tunnel junction and MQLs, and has an electrical current aperture defined therein. The mesa structure defines an optical window through which the VCSEL is configured to emit light.

A network adapter includes a host interface and a scheduler. The host interface is configured to receive, from one or more hosts, packets for transmission to respective destinations over a network. The scheduler is configured to synchronize to a time-division schedule that is employed in the network, the time-division schedule specifying (i) multiple time-slots and (ii) multiple respective groups of the destinations that are reachable during the time-slots, and, based on the time-division schedule, to schedule transmission times of the packets to the network on time-slots during which the respective destinations of the packets are reachable.

Processes for localized lasering of a lamination stack and graphene-coated printed circuit board (PCB) are disclosed. An example PCB may include a lamination stack, post-lamination, that may further include a core, an adhesive layer, and at least one graphene-metal structure. A top layer of graphene of the graphene-metal structure may have never been grown before the lamination process or may have been removed post-lamination such that a portion of the top layer of graphene is missing. The localized lasering process described herein may grow (for the first time) or re-grow the graphene layer of the exposed portion of the metal layer without adverse effects to the rest of the lamination stack or PCB and while promoting a uniform layer of graphene on the top surface. A process of growing graphene through application of molecular layer and a self-assembled monolayer (SAM), are also described herein.

Embodiments are disclosed for a quantum key distribution (QKD) enabled intra-datacenter network. An example system includes a first QKD device and a second QKD device. The first QKD device includes a first quantum-enabled port and a first network port. The second QKD device includes a second quantum-enabled port and a second network port. The first quantum-enabled port of the first QKD device is communicatively coupled to the second quantum-enabled port of the second QKD device via a QKD link associated with quantum communication. Furthermore, the first network port of the first QKD device is communicatively coupled to a first network switch via a first classical link associated with classical network communication. The second network port of the second QKD device is communicatively coupled to a second network switch via a second classical link associated with classical network communication.

A network interface controller includes processing circuitry configured to pair with a local root of trust of a host device connected to the network interface controller and provide a key to an encryption device of the host device that enables the encryption device to encrypt data of one or more host device applications using the key. The encrypted data are stored in host device memory. The processing circuitry is configured to share the key with a remote endpoint and forward the encrypted data from the host device memory to the remote endpoint.

Various embodiments of improved PIN-type photodiodes are provided. In an example embodiment, the PIN-type photodiode includes a p-type contact; an n-type contact; a first absorbing layer disposed between the p-type contact and the n-type contact; and a second absorbing layer disposed between the first absorbing layer and the n-type contact. Systems, computer program products, and methods are described herein for network discovery, port identification, and/or identifying fiber link failures in an optical network, in accordance with an embodiment of the invention. The present invention may be configured to sequentially connect each port of an optical switch to a network port of a server and generate, based on information associated with network devices connected to the ports, a network map. The network map may identify which network devices are connected to which ports of the optical switch and may permit dynamic port mapping for network installation, upgrades, repairs, and/or the like. The present invention may also be configured to determine a fiber link in which a failure occurred and reconfigure the optical switch to allow communication between an optical time-domain reflectometer and the fiber link to test the fiber link.
