A connection device for connecting at least two electric cables to an electric machine in a vehicle includes a housing and at least two contact elements. At least two openings, each allowing the passage of one of the cables, are located in the housing wall in such a way that only one of the cables that are fed in a direction through the openings in the housing and that continue to run in a straight line in the direction inside the housing makes direct contact with precisely one of the contact elements and can be electrically connected to this contact. All the other cables can be connected to a respective element of the remaining contact elements using a respective conductor bar.

Method for connecting at least two electric cables and connection device, kit, electric machine and associated vehicle

The maximum electrical power drawn from an electrical power source by a mining excavator comprising electric motors is reduced by supplying supplementary electrical power from an electrical energy storage unit. The input electrical power drawn by the mining excavator is cyclic. An upper limit is set for the electrical power drawn from the electrical power source. When the input electrical power drawn by the mining excavator exceeds the upper limit, electrical power is supplied by the electrical energy storage unit, such as an ultracapacitor bank. The ultracapacitor bank may be charged by the electrical power source during off-peak intervals. Electrical power generated by electrical motors operating in a regeneration interval may also be recaptured and stored in the electrical energy storage unit.

Certain exemplary embodiments can comprise a system comprising an electric drive system for a machine. The system can comprise a rectifier adapted to convert AC power from an alternator to DC power. High-power electric machines must be intensively cooled. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure a high level of immunity to impurities. For this purpose, the rotor and stator sheet packs () are embodied in two parts, thereby making it possible to carry out a two-sided ventilation, said parts being maintained separately in the middle by a ring (). Said ring () is provided with ribs () in such a way that radial flow channels are formed between partial sheet stacks and ensure corresponding flow rate. In another embodiment, monoblock sheet stacks are provided with cooling channel extensions on either side of the sheet stack. Said cooling extensions alternate on the axial cooling channels in the peripheral direction and transport heated coolant outwards in respectively opposite directions.

Ventilation devices, in particular for electric motor drives regularly comprise a fan wheel (), which is driven by a shaft via an electromagnetic induction coupling. In order to reduce the complexity of manufacture, a stack of magnetic sheets () is cast in the aluminum hub of the fan wheel (). Thus, aluminum also assumes at the same time the function of a damper winding.
