A heat exchanger has partitioning means for dividing a header tank such that a first space and a second space of a tank main body are arranged in a longitudinal direction of the header tank. An annular outer peripheral seal surface is provided around a tube bonding surface of a core plate of the header tank over an entire perimeter thereof and is provided with a gasket. A partitioning seal surface is provided to the tube bonding surface at a position corresponding to the partitioning means, and is provided with the gasket. The gasket seals between the core plate and the partitioning means. The partitioning seal surface is positioned on a plane identical with a plane of the outer peripheral seal surface. A part of the gasket, which is held by the core plate and the tank main body therebetween, has a uniform thickness.

Heat exchanger

A cooling apparatus that cools with coolant a subject of cooling, which is a heat source. The cooling apparatus includes a cooling circuit, an electric pump, a switching section, and a control section. Through circulation of the coolant, air in the cooing circuit is caused to flow to an air bleeding portion and is discharged from the cooling circuit through the air bleeding portion. The switching section is capable of switching the operation mode of the electric pump between a normal mode and an air bleeding mode for collecting air in the cooling circuit to the air bleeding portion. During the air bleeding mode, the control section is capable of controlling the electric pump to change a coolant displacement from the electric pump according to a change pattern that allows stagnant air in sections of the cooling circuit to flow to the air bleeding portion.

Cooling apparatus

A flow rate ratio of a radiator flow rate to a bypass flow rate is determined from pump water temperature, bypass water temperature and radiator water temperature. The relation between the flow rate ratio and a valve opening degree of a flow control valve is predetermined as a map. The valve opening degree is determined from the flow rate ratio and the map. Accordingly, the cooling water temperature at an inlet of a pump is accurately controlled without detecting the flow rate of the cooling water.

Cooling apparatus for liquid-cooled internal combustion engine

Discharge flow rate of an electric pump is controlled such that a temperature difference between a coolant temperature at a coolant outlet of an engine and a coolant temperature at a coolant inlet of the engine is maintained to be a predetermined value &Dgr;T. Accordingly, the discharge flow rate decreases as the engine load decreases. Therefore, the pump work is reduced, and the temperature distribution of the engine is reduced. Accordingly, the engine durability is improved while the thermal distortion of the engine is prevented and the fuel economy is improved.
