A first connection member that provides an inlet and an outlet for allowing the refrigerant to flow into the refrigerant passage. A second connection member that provides an inlet and an outlet for allowing the heat medium to flow into the heat medium passage, in which the inlet and the outlet are configured in a state where the heat medium flowing into the heat medium passage flows in an opposite direction to that of the refrigerant flowing in the refrigerant passage. The core portion includes an offset fin disposed in at least the refrigerant passage.

A cooling system that cools HV equipment includes a compressor that circulates refrigerant, a condenser that condenses the refrigerant, a gas-liquid separator that stores the refrigerant in liquid form that is condensed by the condenser, an expansion valve that reduces a pressure of the refrigerant, an evaporator that vaporizes the refrigerant that is reduced in pressure by the expansion valve, a first passage and a second passage through which the refrigerant flows from the gas-liquid separator toward the expansion valve, and that are provided in parallel, and a cooling portion that is provided along the second passage and cools the heat source using the refrigerant. Exemplary embodiments of a cooling apparatus cool a charger for charging a storage battery upon reception of a supply of power from a power supply. Exemplary embodiments include a compressor that circulates a refrigerant, a cooling unit provided on a path along which the refrigerant flows between the heat exchanger and the expansion valve to cool the charger using the refrigerant, a refrigerant passage through which the refrigerant flows between the compressor and the heat exchanger, a refrigerant passage through which the refrigerant flows between the cooling unit and the expansion valve, and a connecting passage connecting the refrigerant passage and the refrigerant passage. When heating occurs, frost formation can be suppressed without increasing configuration complexity and power consumption.

Hybrid vehicle battery charging cooling apparatus

A selector valve includes: a first valve element having a through-hole; a first housing having a radial hole through which fluid flowing though the through-hole passes, the first housing accommodating the first valve element; a second valve element having a through-hole; a second housing having radial holes through which fluid flowing through the through-hole passes, the second housing accommodating the second valve element; and a motor configured to integrally actuate the first valve element and the second valve element. A hollow space configured to suppress transfer of heat between the first valve element and the second valve element is formed between the first valve element and the second valve element. A cooling system includes: a compressor that circulates refrigerant; a heat exchanger that exchanges heat between the refrigerant and outside air; a cooling portion that uses the refrigerant to cool the heat generating source; a first line through which the refrigerant, which has been discharged from the compressor, flows to the cooling portion; a second line through which the refrigerant circulates between the heat exchanger and the cooling portion; and a selector valve that switches between fluid communication of the first line and fluid communication of the second line. A control device includes a detecting unit configured to detect an abnormality of the compressor; and a switching unit configured to switch the selector valve to interrupt the fluid communication of the first line and to allow the fluid communication of the second line when the abnormality has been detected by the detecting unit.

Control device and control method for cooling system

A method of controlling a cooling device capable of stably cooling a heat source is provided. A cooling device includes a first passage through which a coolant discharged from a compressor flows into a cooling unit for cooling EV equipment; a second passage through which the coolant is circulated between a heat exchanger and the cooling unit; a switching valve switching communication of the first passage and communication of the second passage; and a liquid storage container storing a liquid coolant condensed in the heat exchanger. The control method includes the steps of: increasing an amount of the liquid coolant stored in the liquid storage container; and switching the switching valve so as to block the first passage and allow communication of the second passage.

Method of controlling cooling device

A head cooling path diverges from a backflow path at a position between a radiator and a thermostat and is connected with a cylinder head of an engine by bypassing a cylinder block of the engine. A pump circulates the cooling water through the head cooling path, to the cylinder head, when the engine is operated at a high load and/or a vehicle is in a rapid acceleration, so that sufficiently cooled cooling water is supplied directly to the cylinder head.

Liquid-cooling device for internal combustion engine

Cooling water is circulated at small flow rate of 1 to 5 L/min between a bypass passage and an engine without circulating the cooling water in an oil cooler before the warming-up of the engine is completed. After the warming-up is completed, the cooling water is supplied to the oil cooler so that the engine cooling water temperature is maintained at 95&deg; C. to 110&deg; C. Consequently, the no local boiling of the cooling water in the engine occurs to prevent the engine from being deformed locally due to heat. Thus, the warming-up of the engine can be promoted while preventing the heat of the engine from being absorbed by the ATF through the cooling water. After the warming-up is completed, the fuel consumption can be improved by reducing the friction loss of the engine oil.

Cooling apparatus for liquid-cooled internal combustion engine

There is provided a cooling system for a liquid-cooled engine wherein the cooling effect exerted by the combination of a pump and a blower is optimized according to the state of the load on the engine so that the necessary cooling effect can be provided by the pump and the blower and that the power consumption can be reduced. In the cooling system, according to the load on the engine, a target cooling water temperature (T ) value and a combination of the operation duty ratios of the pump ( ) and the blower ( ), which produce the target water temperature (T ), are formed into a map. In an actual cooling system, when the target water temperature (T ) is obtained, the pump and the blower are respectively controlled by the duty ratios so that the sum (L ) of the power consumptions thereof can be minimized.

Cooling system for liquid-cooled internal combustion engine

In a cooling device for an engine, having a motor-driven pump and a flow rate control valve, to obtain a predetermined discharge flow rate (circulating coolant amount) from the pump a pump duty is minimized while maintaining a water flow resistance as low as possible (maintaining a valve opening degree &thgr; as large as possible). Thereby, a value of an electric current flowing through the pump becomes smaller to decrease the energy consumption (power consumption).
