A method of forming a multi-layer paint film comprising coating an aqueous first colored base paint (A) on an electro-deposition paint cured paint film to form a first colored base paint film, coating an aqueous second colored base paint (B) on the first colored base paint film without preliminary heating of the first colored base paint film to form a second colored base paint film, coating a clear paint (C) coated on the second colored base paint film after preliminary heating of the first paint film and second paint film to form a clear paint film, and heating and curing the three paint films at the same time, wherein a talc pigment is included in each of paint (A) and paint (B) in an amount of from 1 to 5 mass % with respect to the total resin solid fraction of each of paint (A) and paint (B).

Method for the formation of multi-layer paint films

Disclosed is a hyperbranched, dendritic, hydroxyl-functional polyester comprising an OH number greater than or equal to 180 mg KOH/g as measured via DIN 53240 and to clearcoat compositions comprising said polyesters. Clear paint compositions comprising hyperbranched, dendritic, hydroxyl-functional polyesters

Disclosed is a finish paint composition having a hydroxyl group containing resin (A) comprising a hydroxyl group value of 80 to 220 mgKOH/g, a glass transition temperature of &#x2212;50&#xb0; or above but below 0&#xb0; C., and 25 to 55 mass% of units of 4-hydroxybutyl (meth)acrylate origin, a hydroxyl group containing resin (B) with a hydroxyl group value of 80 to 220 mgKOH/g, and a glass transition temperature of 0 to 50&#xb0; C., and a crosslinking agent (C) comprising polyisocyanate compound having isocyanate groups, wherein the proportions of hydroxyl group containing resin (A) and hydroxyl group containing resin (B) are, as a ratio of solid fraction masses, from 95/5 to 50/50, and the proportion of isocyanate groups of the crosslinking agent (C) with respect to the hydroxyl groups in total of the hydroxyl group containing resin (A) and the hydroxyl group containing resin (B), as the NCO/OH mol ratio, is 0.5 to 1.5.

Paint compositions, a method of finish-painting and painted objects

The invention relates to two-component coating systems comprising as component (a) one or more polyisocyanates, as component (b) one or more oligomeric and/or polymeric compounds that are reactive with component (a), and as component (c) one or more phosphonates selected from the group of phosphonic diesters and diphosphonic diesters, where (i) component (b) comprises all oligomeric and/or polymeric compounds that are present in the two-component coating system and are reactive with component (a) and (ii) component (b) contains not more than 15% by weight, based on the total weight of component (b), of oligomeric and/or polymeric compounds which carry isocyanate-reactive amino groups. Additionally provided by the invention are a process for preparing the two-component coating systems, and the use of these coating systems as a clearcoat, more particularly for multicoat automobile finishing.
