An intake passage structure for a turbocharger-equipped engine () includes a supercharging passage () and an air relief passage () that are provided in a compressor case (). The air relief passage () has a first passage () and a second passage (), each of which is in a non-linear shape. The first and second passages () and () each have an air outflow port () formed through an inner wall surface of an upstream portion () of the supercharging passage () upstream of a compressor (). The air outflow ports () are formed through different portions of the inner wall surface in a circumferential direction of the inner wall surface so as to overlap with each other in a direction along a central axis of the upstream portion ().

Intake passage structure for turbocharger-equipped engine

An exhaust passageincludes: a first passage (high-speed passages, and); and a second passage (low-speed passages, and). A turbine housingis connected to the exhaust passagedownstream from the collector. An exhaust deviceof an engineincludes a valve (an exhaust variable valve) to open and close the first passage. A controller (an engine controller) closes the valve if an engine speed of the engineis lower than a predetermined engine speed and opens the valve if the engine speed of the engineis higher than or equal to the predetermined engine speed. The controller opens the valve even though the engine speed of the engineis lower than the predetermined engine speed if performing the fuel cut control.

Engine exhaust device

An opening/closing valve structure for an engine is provided with a valve body for opening and closing an intake passage or an exhaust passage of the engine; a pair of bush members mounted on axial ends of the valve body; and a shaft member axially passing through one of the bush members and projecting from the bush member by a predetermined length within one end of the valve body. Each of the bush members is mounted in such a manner that a part of the bush member is axially received in an end of the valve body and the remaining part thereof axially projects from the end of the valve body. A portion of the shaft member projecting from the one of the bush members is connected to the valve body in such a manner that relative rotation of the shaft member with respect to the valve body is disabled.

Opening/closing valve structure

An exhaust device for an engine, interposed between an engine body, and a supercharger to be driven by a pressure of exhaust gas to be discharged from the engine body, includes a first exhaust passage and a second exhaust passage which introduce exhaust gas to the supercharger; a partition wall disposed between the first exhaust passage and the second exhaust passage, and configured to partition the first exhaust passage and the second exhaust passage from each other; and a valve disposed within the second exhaust passage, and configured to adjust the flow rate of exhaust gas flowing through the second exhaust passage. The partition wall includes a communication portion for communicating between the first exhaust passage and the second exhaust passage.

Exhaust device for engine

Disclosed is an exhaust gas recirculation system for an engine (), wherein at least a downstream sub-region of a region of an exhaust passage () upstream of a turbine wheel () is divided into two sub-passages (R, R) by a partition wall () extending along an exhaust gas flow direction. A high-speed sub-passage (R) in the two sub-passages (R, R) is equipped with an openable-closable exhaust variable valve (). The exhaust variable valve () is configured to be controlled to open the high-speed sub-passage (R) when an engine speed is equal to or greater than a reference speed, and close the high-speed sub-passage (R) when the engine speed is less than the reference speed. An inlet () of an EGR passage () on the side of the exhaust passage () is opened to the high-speed sub-passage (R) at a position downstream of the exhaust variable valve ().

Exhaust gas recirculation system for engine

The disclosure provides a turbo-charging apparatus for a vehicle engine, which includes a first and second turbocharger, an inter-turbine passage connecting a discharging port of a first turbocharger turbine with an introducing port of a second turbocharger turbine, a bypass passage connecting an introducing passage of the first turbocharger turbine with the inter-turbine passage, and a control valve for opening and closing the bypass passage. The inter-turbine passage extends substantially straight from the discharging port of the first turbocharger turbine toward the second turbocharger when viewed from a direction parallel to turbine shafts of the first and second turbochargers, which are arranged substantially parallel to each other, so that the inter-turbine passage connects with an outer circumferential part of the second turbocharger turbine so as to extend in a direction tangent to an outer circumference direction of the second turbocharger turbine.

Turbo-charging apparatus for vehicle engine

An EGR plate member configured of an EGR plate inner and outer is interposed between a cylinder head and an intake manifold, including an exhaust gas recirculation passage formed therein. The EGR plate member has a lower protruding portion to protrude outward beyond respective connecting faces thereof with the cylinder head and the intake manifold. A common passage portion of the exhaust gas recirculation passage is substantially formed at the protruding portion. Part of the common passage portion has its laterally-long cross section which is offset toward the cylinder head. The offset portion of the EGR plate member has its greater thickness than other part thereof, extending below an intake port flange portion. Accordingly, the exhaust gas can be cooled by an outside air, thereby reducing an improper heat influence on the intake manifold.

Exhaust gas recirculation device of engine

The exhaust manifold gasket according to present invention consists of a pair of beaded plates provided with beads extending along the circumferences of exhaust holes therein, and a piled plate assembly inserted between these beaded plates. The piled plate assembly consists of a pair of flat plates, and a refractory sheet member disposed between these flat plates and containing a core plate therein. The refractory sheet member is formed out of a material having a high thermal resistance, excellent heat insulating characteristics and a high compression resiliency at a high temperature, such as a mica material. Accordingly, this exhaust manifold gasket has an improved compression resiliency at a high temperature and an improved sealability at a high temperature, and is capable of properly cutting off the transfer of heat.

Disclosed is an engine-control apparatus in which an exhaust passageway of the engine is provided with plural sound deadening passages. A portion of the plural sound deadening passages is designed to be opened or closed by a shift valve on the basis of a predetermined switching characteristic, and the pressure of the exhaust gases is changed upon the switching of the shift valve. In order to prevent torque shock to the driven wheels which may occur attendant upon operation of the shift valve to open or close or in order to reduce probability that torque shock would occur, there is provided a torque regulating apparatus which permits an adjustment of torque generator by the engine, of a transmission efficiency of power to the driven wheel, or of a switching speed at which the shift valve is switched to open or close, or a change in the switching characteristic.
