The present invention relates to a thermoplastic cellulose composite for additive manufacturing. The composite comprises at least 50 weight-% of total cellulose, a plasticizer, and a coupling agent of an epoxy-modified polyunsaturated fatty acid. The material is fully bio-based and offers improved cellulose content and thermal resistance compared to existing bio-based thermoplastic materials used in additive manufacturing.

Use of thermoplastic cellulose composite for additive manufacturing

The present invention concerns a process for manufacturing a thermoformable plasticized composite containing cellulose fiber and polylactide by blending the dry cellulose fiber and a compatibilizer in a compactor into pellets, and subsequently reacting the reactive compatibilizer and the mixture of cellulose fiber and polylactide by compounding. The invention also concerns a composite manufactured using said process, as well as further processed products.

Process for manufacturing a thermoformable plasticized composite containing cellulose fiber and a moldable polymer

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing cellulose material, the method comprising introducing cellulose fibers as raw material pulp () to a system, adding an alkalizing agent into the system in order to absorb the alkalizing agent into the cellulose fibers (), adding an anionic agent into the system in order to absorb said agent into the cellulose fibers (), feeding the cellulose fibers () to a sieve plate press (), performing a reaction between the cellulose fibers and the anionic agent at least partly in the sieve plate press () in order to produce anionized cellulose fibers having a degree of substitution between 0.05 and 0.35, wherein the reaction is performed at least partly at a consistency of at least 50%. In addition, the invention relates to a system for manufacturing cellulose material and to fibril cellulose produced from anionized cellulose fibers.

Method and a system for manufacturing cellulose material

A method for preparing a cellulose carbamate solution. Dissolving is performed in two steps, first by moistening cellulose carbamate pulp with a dilute alkaline solution and second by admixing a concentrated alkaline solution, as cold as possible, to the pulp under intensive stirring. The technique utilizes the low freezing point of the aqueous NaOH solution at the concentration of 18%, wherein the freezing point is below &#x2212;20&#xb0; C., and the intensive stirring function of the dissolve mixer device during the dosage. It is possible to prepare solutions of high quality and having high dry matter content in a mixing time of a few minutes only.

Method for preparing a cellulose carbamate solution

A process for manufacturing transglycosylation products. According to the process, a starch derivative is reacted at acidic conditions with an alkanol containing 1-6 hydroxyl groups and the reaction product is recovered as such or it is subjected to further processing. According to the method, the transglycosylation reaction between the starch derivatives and the alkanol is carried out in a reactive extrusion process, whereby the reaction can essentially be performed in the absence of liquid media at high yield. The invention also relates to new transglycosylation products of starch derivative, containing anions derived from a phosphorus-containing acid, which are chemically bonded to the product.

Starch-based composition and process for the production thereof

The invention relates to a method for manufacturing cellulose carbamate. In the method, an auxiliary agent and urea in solution form and possibly in solid form are absorbed into cellulose, and a reaction between cellulose and urea is carried out in a mixture containing cellulose, a liquid, the auxiliary agent, and urea The absorption of the auxiliary agent and urea into cellulose, and the reaction between the cellulose and the auxiliary agent at least partly are carried out in a working device. According to the invention, it is possible to manufacture cellulose carbamate without ammonia, organic solvents or other auxiliary agents, by using only a small quantity of water as a medium.
