The present invention relates to a powder paint composition comprising at least (a) a thermosetting polymer having functional groups capable of reacting with &#x3b2;-hydroxyalkylamide units (b) a compound comprising &#x3b2;-hydroxyalkylamide units and (c) a deceleration agent, capable of reversibly blocking the functional groups of polymer (a). The deceleration agent is present in an amount sufficient to block at least 9% of the total amount of functional groups of polymer (a). The present invention relates also to the use of a specific amine compound as a deceleration agent in a powder paint composition.

Powder paint composition

The invention relates to a powder paint composition comprising a polymer that contains endomethylene tetrahydrophthalic acid units and a crosslinker. The polymer is obtained by preparing an unsaturated polymer in a first step, which then reacts with cyclopentadiene at a temperature between 160 &deg; C and 220 &deg; C in a second step. The polymer preferably contains more than 10 wt.% endomethylene tetrahydrophthalic acid units and is preferably an unsaturated polymer.

Powder paint binder composition

The invention relates to a binder composition for powder coatings. The binder composition is substantially based on a mixture of an unsaturated polyester and an oligomer having a plurality of allyl groups and further having at least either ether and ester groups or urethane and optionally ether groups. The oligmer is preferably an allyl ether ester being more preferably the ester of trimethylolpropane diallyl ether or pentaerythritol triallyl ether and a polycarboxylic acid (anhydride).

Binder composition for powder coatings

The invention relates to a powder paint, comprising a polyepoxy compound, a polyester resin and customary additives, the polyester resin having an acid number ranging from 15 through 70 and a hydroxyl number of 10 or below and being substantially based on units of dicarboxylic acids, glycols and monomers of functionality three or higher, wherein the dicarboxylic acids are comprised of at least 15 mole % of isophthalic acid and at least 5 mole % of 1,4-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid and wherein the glycols are comprised of at least 50 mole % of branched aliphatic glycols with 5-11 carbon atoms, which may optionally comprise an ester group, and at most 50 mole % of aliphatic glycol with 2-6 carbon atoms, and wherein the monomers have a functionality three or higher in an amount of at most 8 mole % of dicarboxylic acids plus glycols.

Powder paint and a polyester resin for powder paint

An improved carboxyl-group-containing polyester resin composition as described of an aromatic carboxylic acid and an aliphatic diol having the following combination of properties: (a) an acid number between 10 and 26 mg KOH/g, (b) a hydroxyl number that is smaller than 15 mg KOH/g, (c) a theoretical number-average molecular weight between 4,500 and 12,500 and (d) a glass transistion temperature between 40.degree. and 85.degree. C.

Polyester and its use in powder coating

An improved carboxyl-group-containing polyester resin composition as described of an aromatic carboxylic acid and an aliphatic diol having the following combination of properties: (a) an acid number between 10 and 26 mg KOH/g, (b) a hydroxyl number that is smaller than 15 mg KOH/g, (c) a theoretical number-average molecular weight between 4,500 and 12,500 and (d) a glass transition temperature between 40 and 85.degree. C.

Powder coatings and a powder composition having a valuable combination of characteristics are described, composed of a homogeneous mixture of between 1.9 and 9.0 wt. % of a diglycidyl phthalate and between 91.0 and 98.1 wt. % of a polyester, wherein said polyester has (a) an acid number between 10 and 30 mg KOH/g, (b) a hydroxyl number less than 15 mg KOH/g, (c) a theoretical number-average molecular weight between 3,750 and 12,500 and (d) a glass transition temperature between 48.degree. and 85.degree. C.

Powder coating

The invention provides novel water-dispersible air-drying alkyds containing 1.25-3.75% by weight of polyalkylene oxide radicals, in particular polyethylene glycol, and novel aqueous dispersions of these alkyds (alkyd : water from 30:70 to 70:30) which can be worked into water-based paints having a glossy finish.
