An elastic sheet is defined in accordance with a user input operation to have a shape with which the elastic sheet does not cross another member (building component) (step S). Then, the elastic sheet is divided into rigid elements (step S). Angles formed by each rigid element with adjacent rigid elements on two sides are calculated, and the calculation results and the like are stored in a RAM (step S). A flexible medium which moves through a conveyance path is defined (step S). Conveyance conditions when the flexible medium moves through the conveyance path are set (step S). After that, the motion is calculated (step S). The result of the motion calculation, that is, the behavior of the flexible medium, is displayed on a display device (step S).

Analysis apparatus and analysis method

If a next endpoint in a line segment is determined to be neither in a first nor a second reference direction passing through a base endpoint, a point obtained by projecting the next endpoint onto a straight line in the first reference direction passing through the base endpoint or a straight line in the second reference direction passing through the base endpoint is set as a correction endpoint. If the next endpoint is determined to be in the first or second reference direction passing through the next endpoint, the next endpoint is set as a new base endpoint. If the next endpoint is determined to be in neither the first reference direction passing through the base endpoint nor the second reference direction, the correction endpoint is set as a new base endpoint. Each endpoint of the plurality of line elements is subjected to the above process so as to generate a simplified shape.

Image processing apparatus and method thereof

A simulation apparatus which is capable of expressing a curling shape of a flexible medium such as a paper sheet in a simple manner, when evaluating functions of a conveying path. The behavior of a flexible medium conveyed in a conveying path is simulated. A display displays at least one component in the conveying path defined in advance on a display screen. A CPU interactively sets a shape of the flexible medium and an amount of curling of the flexible medium, the behavior of which in the conveying path is simulated on the display screen on which the component is displayed by the display.
