A drive wheel bearing device is provided with an outer member, an inner member, double-row rolling elements and a constant velocity joint. The inner member includes double-row inner races opposite outer races of the outer member, a first inner member, and a second inner member formed with at least one of the double-row inner races, the first inner member and the second inner member being inseparably coupled together at a flange-like swaged portion. The constant velocity joint includes an outer joint member press-fitted to an inner periphery of the first inner member with torque transmission means formed therebetween that transmits torque by engagement of a plurality of axially extending teeth, wherein the torque transmitting teeth of the first inner member have a tooth profile that is controlled within a specified range over the entire axial length of the teeth.

Drive wheel bearing device

A method for manufacturing a drive wheel bearing device is provided. During the manufacturing, a swaged portion is formed in a manner as a non-hardened region, and in a manner that variations based on a reference surface in the axial direction of the flat surface are restricted within +/&#x2212;0.2 mm. The reference surface is provided with an end face on an outboard side of a flange for an attachment of a wheel or an end face on an inboard side of the flange for attachment to a vehicle body. Part of the swaged portion making contact with an outer joint member of to drive wheel bearing device is formed into a flat surface. Serrations and a pilot part are formed on an inner periphery of a first inner member of the drive wheel bearing device. An inner peripheral surface of the pilot part is formed as a turned surface, and the turned surface has been turned after forming the swaged portion. A serrated shaft is formed on the outer joint member for transmitting torque to and from the first inner member through the serrations and an outer periphery surface opposing to the pilot part. A surface hardened layer is formed on the outer joint member by heat treatment in a region that includes at least the serrated shaft.

Method for manufacturing a drive wheel bearing device

A wheel bearing device includes a hub ring, a double-row bearing and a constant velocity universal joint which are unitized together. At least one of double-row inner raceways of the bearing and a wheel mounting flange are formed on a hub ring. The hub ring and a stem portion of a joint outer ring of the constant velocity universal joint are fitted through a torque transmission assembly, wherein a pilot member as a separate element having a wheel guide portion and a brake guide portion is fitted to a side-end portion of the wheel mounting flange of the hub ring, and the hub ring and the pilot member are fixed to the joint outer ring by swaging.

Rotation detecting device and wheel support bearing assembly utilizing the same

A bearing apparatus for a driving wheel of vehicle where the weight and size of the apparatus can be reduced and the durability can be improved with adopting plastic deformed connection between essential parts forming the apparatus. The bearing apparatus for a driving wheel of vehicle has a hub wheel, a constant velocity universal joint, and a double row rolling bearing which are assembled as a unit. One of the inner raceway surfaces is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the hub wheel. The other of the inner raceway surfaces is formed on the outer circumferential surface of the outer joint member. The hub wheel and the outer joint member are fitted with each other with one end surface being abutted against the shoulder of the outer joint member. The inner circumferential surface at the fitting portion of the hub wheel is formed with a hardened irregular portion. The hub wheel and the outer joint member are integrally connected via plastic deformation of the outer joint member. The hardened irregular portion bites into the outer circumferential surface at the fitting portion of the outer joint member by radially outwardly expanding the fitting portion of the outer joint member. The outer circumferential surface of the outer joint member is formed with a hardened layer at least at a region including the inner raceway surface and the shaft portion except for the fitting portion of the outer joint member.

Bearing apparatus for a driving wheel of vehicle

A wheel bearing device having a unitized hub ring, double-row bearing and constant velocity universal joint with one of double-row inner raceways formed on the joint outer ring. An end portion of the joint outer ring is fitted to an outside periphery of the hub ring through serrated portions. The hub ring is plastically deformed and expanded from an inside diameter side toward an outside diameter side by pushing a steel ball into a through hole of the hub ring preventing play in the serrated portions by the diameter expansion. A surface-hardened layer is formed at least on a base portion of the wheel mounting flange.

The electric power generator () includes a multi-pole magnet assembly () and a magnetic ring assembly (). A wireless transmission device () for transmitting the rotational speed detection signal outputted by the electric power generator () is employed. A sealing member () is also employed for sealing a working space delimited between the non-rotatable member () and the rotatable member (), and the multi-pole magnet assembly () and the magnetic ring assembly () of the electric power generator () confront with each other at a location inwardly of the sealing member (). The sealing member () is mounted on the magnetic ring assembly () or the wireless transmission device () of an annular configuration.

A rolling bearing assembly equipped with an electric power generator, the assembly having: first and second members rotatable relative to each other through rolling elements; an electric power generator capable of generating an electric power by a relative rotation between the first and second members; and an electric circuit disposed within a yoke forming a part of the electric power generator and utilizing the electric power generated by the electric power generator.

A wheel bearing assembly is provided which has a rotating speed sensor unit which includes a seal for preventing entry of foreign matter and which takes up little space and thus can be mounted on the wheel bearing assembly without increasing the axial dimension of the fixed member of the wheel bearing assembly. The assembly includes a fixed member fixed to a vehicle body, and a rotary member rotatably supported in the stationary member through a bearing and mounted to a vehicle wheel. An annular sensor is fitted to a knuckle, which is a part of the fixed member, on the inboard side of the bearing. A sensor seal is fitted to the annular sensor and has a seal lip kept in slide contact with a seal land formed on a constant-velocity joint outer ring, which is a part of the rotary member, to define a sealed space on the inboard side of the bearing. An encoder is mounted on a bearing inner ring, which is a part of the rotary member, in the sealed space. The sensor element is disposed in the sealed space, opposite the encoder.

Rotating speed sensor unit and wheel bearing assembly carrying the same

A wheel bearing device at low cost with higher durability is provided. An outer joint member of a constant velocity joint is fitted to an inner periphery of a wheel hub, and the outer joint member and the wheel hub are united by plastic deformation in radially outward direction of a stem part of the outer joint member. The outer joint member is made of a steel material chiefly comprising iron, 0.5 to 0.7 weight % of carbon, 0.1 to 1.5 weight % of silicon, 0.6 to 1.0 weight % of manganese, and inevitable impurities.

A reliable brake rotor and wheel bearing assembly are proposed which make unnecessary adjustment of runout of brake rotor at the customer's factory. For runout of each of the mounting surface and back of the brake rotor itself, and runout of the side of the wheel mounting flange of the inner member to which is mounted the brake rotor, the maximum difference between the peaks of crests and troughs in each period of surface runout is restricted within a standard value, and the brake rotor is mounted to the wheel mounting flange, thereby eliminating the necessity of mounting of the brake rotor and adjustment of runout after mounting at the customer's factory to provide a reliable automotive wheel bearing assembly.

Brake rotor and wheel bearing assembly having maximum acceptable runout variation

A wheel bearing assembly is provided which can suppress brake judder. A film is disposed between the brake rotor-mounting surface of the wheel mounting flange and an abutment surface of a brake rotor to fill a gap therebetween to suppress the deformation of the brake rotor. Also, by concentrating the contact force between the wheel-mounting flange and the brake rotor when a disc wheel of the wheel is tightened to the hub bolts to a portion near the hub bolts, the contact between the wheel-mounting flange and the brake rotor on the surfaces between the hub bolts is suppressed so that undulation of the flat surfaces between the hub bolts will not cause deformation of the brake rotor.

Wheel bearing assembly

A bearing apparatus for a driving wheel of vehicle for rotatably supporting the driving wheel relative to a body of a vehicle has a wheel hub, integrally formed with a wheel mounting flange, a constant velocity universal joint and a double row rolling bearing assembled as a unit. A separate inner ring is press fitted onto a cylindrical portion of the wheel hub. An outer joint member of the constant velocity universal joint is fitted within the wheel hub. The bore surface of the wheel hub is formed with a hardened irregular portion. The wheel hub and the outer joint member are integrally connected with making the hardened irregular portion of the wheel hub bite into the outer circumferential surface at a fitting portion of the outer joint member by radially outwardly expanding the fitting portion of the outer joint member. The hardness of the bore surface of the fitting portion of the outer joint member is higher than that of the core portion of the fitting portion of the outer joint member.
