A rotor for a rotary electric machine includes a plurality of magnetic poles in a rotor core, a side barrier as a magnetic air gap, an air gap section as a magnetic air gap. Each of the plurality of magnetic poles includes a magnet insertion hole, a permanent magnet. The side barrier is provided at a portion adjacent to a circumferential end face of the permanent magnet and includes a projection barrier portion projecting radially outwardly from an extension line extending from an outer peripheral surface of the permanent magnet. The air gap section is provided at an area which is spaced apart from the projection barrier portion and the magnet insertion hole and faces a peripheral edge of a circumferentially central side of the magnetic pole with respect to the projection barrier portion and a circumferential end of the outer peripheral surface of the permanent magnet.

Rotor for rotary electric machine

A void group made up of plural voids is formed on an outer circumferential side of a longitudinal end portion of a permanent magnet provided in a rotating electric machine rotor. The void group includes a first void and a second void row where plural second voids are formed at predetermined intervals at a position further radially outwards than the first void. A rib is formed between a pair of adjacent second voids of the second void row. End portions of the first void respectively overlap the pair of adjacent second voids. An imaginary line that extends along the center of the rib passes through at least part of the first void. A magnetic pole center-side end portion of the void group extends from the outer circumferential surface of the permanent magnet towards an outer circumferential surface of a rotor core.

Rotating electric machine rotor

A rotor includes a rotor core and a plurality of magnetic pole parts. The rotor core has a magnet insertion hole. The magnet insertion hole includes a first peripheral edge portion and a second peripheral edge portion spaced away from the first peripheral edge portion in a radial direction of the rotor. The rotor core includes a holding part and a protrusion. The holding part extends along the radial direction from the first peripheral edge portion of the magnet insertion hole. The holding part abuts against a circumferential end portion of each of the plurality of permanent magnet pieces. The protrusion extends toward the second peripheral edge portion of the magnet insertion hole. The protrusion is spaced away in the radial direction from the second peripheral edge portion of the magnet insertion hole.
