A vehicle-body bottom portion comprises a noise-insulation inferior part and a noise-insulation superior part provided adjacently to a periphery of the noise-insulation inferior part. Between the vehicle-body bottom portion and a floor carpet are provided a sound-absorbing member which is arranged between the noise-insulation inferior part and the floor carpet, a cross member which connects the noise-insulation superior part and the floor carpet and seals a gap between the vehicle-body bottom portion and the floor carpet, and a noise insulation space which is adjacent to the sound-absorbing member and the cross member and enclosed by the sound-absorbing member and the cross member.

Noise insulation structure of automotive vehicle

A floor carpet is placed on a floor panel forming a cabin floor surface. The floor carpet comprises a skin layer which is configured to block an airflow therethrough and a sound-absorption layer which is made of a sound-absorption material and configured to allow an airflow therein, the sound-absorption layer being provided below the skin layer to contact the floor panel at a lower face thereof. A space between the skin layer and the floor panel (a space portion where the sound-absorption layer is arranged) is sealed with a seal member which is configured to surround the sound-absorption layer. The seal member is pressed against the floor panel (tightly) by a pressing member which is fixed to a vehicle-body side with a fixing tool.

Disclosed is a sound-absorbing material, which has a flow resistivity R of 3.3&#xd7;10N&#xb7;s/mor more, a Young's modulus E of 1.2&#xd7;10to 2.0&#xd7;10N/m, and a loss factor &#x3b4; of 0.12 or less. The sound-absorbing material of the present invention can enhance a sound absorption capability in a wide range of a low/intermediate-frequency region to a high-frequency region at a higher level as compared with conventional sound-absorbing materials.
