A burner device placed upstream of an exhaust treatment device mounted in an exhaust pipe to raise a temperature of an exhaust gas, comprises a fuel supply valve for supplying fuel into the exhaust pipe, an igniter that ignites the fuel supplied from the fuel supply valve, and a burner catalyst held in the exhaust pipe through a support member. The support member is formed in a corrugated shape in cross section including outer arc-shaped portions in contact with the exhaust pipe, inner arc-shaped portions in contact with an outer peripheral member of the burner catalyst, and coupling portions for coupling the outer arc-shaped portions and the inner arc-shaped portions to each other.

Burner device for raising temperature of exhaust gas

A catalyst () suitable for reduction of the NOin an exhaust gas by ammonia in the presence of excess oxygen is arranged in the exhaust passage () of an internal combustion engine. An aqueous urea solution is fed through a flow control valve () to the inside of the exhaust passage () upstream of the catalyst (). When the temperature of the catalyst () is low, a large amount of the aqueous urea solution is fed to make the urea contained in the aqueous urea solution be stored in the catalyst (). When the engine is accelerated and the temperature of the catalyst () rises, ammonia is released at a little at a time from the inside of the catalyst () and the NOin the exhaust gas is reduced by the released ammonia.

Exhaust gas purification device of internal combustion engine

According to the present invention, there is provided an exhaust gas purification device, comprising a NO,absorbent arranged in an exhaust passage of an engine for absorbing NO,therein when an air-fuel ratio of an exhaust gas flowing into the NO,absorbent is lean, the NO,absorbent discharging NO,absorbed therein when a concentration of the oxygen in the exhaust gas flowing into the NO,absorbent decreases, a trapping element arranged in the exhaust passage upstream of the NO,absorbent for trapping particulates, a processing element for processing the particulates trapped in the trapping element to regenerate the trapping element, and a preventing element for preventing the exhaust gas from flowing into the NO,absorbent from the trapping element when the trapping element is regenerated.

Exhaust gas purification device

In an exhaust gas purification device, a catalytic converter containing selective reduction catalysts is disposed in an exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine capable of being operated at a lean air-fuel ratio. The catalytic converter includes a plurality of the selective reduction catalysts disposed in series in the casing of the catalytic converter. Bypass passages which supply the exhaust gas to downstream selective reduction catalysts in the casing by bypassing the upstream catalysts are provided. When a reducing agent is supplied to the exhaust gas upstream of the converter, a part of the supplied reducing agent directly reaches the downstream selective reduction catalyst through the bypass passages without being oxidized by the upstream selective reduction catalysts. Therefore, the NO,purifying abilities of the downstream catalysts are improved and the formation of sulfates on the downstream catalysts is suppressed.

Exhaust gas purification device for an internal combustion engine

A compression ignition type engine, wherein a first combustion where the amount of the recirculated exhaust gas supplied to the combustion chamber is larger than the amount of recirculated exhaust gas where the amount of production of soot peaks and almost no soot is produced and a second combustion where the amount of recirculated exhaust gas supplied to the combustion chamber is smaller than the amount of recirculated exhaust gas where the amount of production of soot peaks are selectively switched between and wherein the air-fuel ratio is temporarily made rich immediately before switching from the first combustion to the second combustion or immediately after switching from the second combustion to the first combustion.

Compression ignition type engine

A device for purifying the exhaust gas of an engine comprises a NO.sub.X absorbent arranged in the exhaust passage. The NO.sub.X absorbent absorbs NO.sub.X therein when the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas is lean, and releases the absorbed NO.sub.X therefrom when the oxygen concentration in the inflowing exhaust gas becomes lower. The NO.sub.X absorbent also absorbs SO.sub.X therein when the air-fuel ratio of the inflowing exhaust gas is lean, and releases the absorbed SO.sub.X therefrom when the oxygen concentration in the inflowing exhaust gas becomes lower, with the temperature of the NO.sub.X absorbent being higher than a SO.sub.X releasing temperature. The air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing to the NO.sub.X absorbent is made rich temporarily when the temperature of the NO.sub.X absorbent is higher than SO.sub.X releasing temperature and when the flow rate of the exhaust gas flowing through the NO.sub.X absorbent is lower than a predetermined flow rate, to release the absorbed SO.sub.X from the NO.sub.X absorbent.

Device for purifying exhaust gas of engine

A door locking knob structure for a vehicle has a push-button provided on the side of a knob main body which faces the inside of the compartment of the vehicle in such a manner that the push-button is movable together with the knob main body. When pressed, the push-button is withdrawn into the knob main body so as to define a finger receiving recess which allows an occupant of the vehicle to apply his finger thereto and raise the knob main body. Accordingly, when the door is in a locked state, the push-button makes the finger receiving recess disappear, and there is no gap between the push-button and the knob main body. Thus, it is possible to prevent any accidental or undesirable unlocking of the door.

A variable compression ratio control device includes a mechanism for varying a compression ratio of an engine in response to engine driving conditions, at least between a higher stage and a lower stage, a compression ratio detecting sensor for detecting a current compression ratio, a sensor fault detecting unit for detecting a malfunction of the compression ratio detecting sensor, and a fail-safe unit for lowering and fixing the compression ratio when the sensor fault detecting unit detects a malfunction of the compression ratio detecting sensor.

A device for locking rotation of an eccentric bearing used in a compression ratio changing device for an internal combustion engine where rotation of the eccentric bearing interposed between a connecting rod and a piston-pin changes the compression ratio. The device includes at least two groups of lock-pins, lock-pin holes formed in the connecting rod and lock holes formed in the eccentric bearing. The eccentric bearing is always locked in rotation relative to the connecting rod except when the compression ratio is exchanged. The locking of the rotation of the eccentric bearing suppresses slap noises of the piston and abrasion of the sliding surfaces of the device and improves durability of the compression ratio changing device.

A driver unit for a window regulator or winder for use in an automobile door, for example, includes a gear rotatably mounted on a base and having first and second shafts coaxial with each other and projecting from opposite sides of the gear, the first shaft being rotatably supported on said base, the gear having a support coaxial with the first and second shafts and a plurality of angularly spaced arms projecting radially outwardly from the support. A drum is rotatably mounted on the second shaft and has a plurality of angularly spaced cavities opening toward the support. A plurality of integrally joined dampers are disposed as pairs in the cavities, respectively, with one of the arms being interposed between the dampers in each pair. The gear is rotated by a motor mounted on the base to rotate the drum through the arms and the dampers to move a wire wound on the drum and coupled to the window glass for thereby moving the window glass in the automobile door.

A driver unit for use in a window regulator for raising and lowering a panel of window glass has a drum case to be mounted on a fixed member such as a door panel, a drum rotatably supported in the drum case for winding a wire thereon and feeding the wire therefrom upon rotation thereof, the drum having an axial shank, a spiral spring having one end engaging the shank, and a spring cover supported on the drum case and accommodating the spiral spring therein, the other end of the spiral spring being fixed to the spring cover, the shank of the drum being rotatably supported on the spring cover. The spring cover is securely locked on the drum case by a reliable locking arrangement which can easily be assembled.

Driver unit for use in window regulators

A door window regulator for vertically moving a door window glass of a vehicle includes a wire which is stretched between upper and lower pulleys respectively disposed at the upper and lower portions of a door such that the wire forms a closed loop. A wire hook is secured to a portion of the wire between the upper and lower pulleys and further secured to a wire mounting bracket which is secured to the window glass. The wire mounting bracket has a box-like portion into which the wire hook is inserted. The wire hook is prevented from coming off by a bent portion which projects from a portion of the wire mounting bracket. A synthetic resin is applied to the respective contact surfaces of the wire hook and the wire mounting bracket for the purpose of cushioning.
