A fuel pump has substantially coaxial outer and inner pump chambers. An impeller has partition walls correspondingly to the inner pump chamber to define inner vane grooves. A rear surface is located at a rear side in a rotative direction of each inner vane groove. At least a radially inner side of the rear surface inclines rearward in the rotative direction from the radially inner side to a radially outer side. A first line connects a radially inner end of the rear surface with a radially outer end of the rear surface. A second line radially extends from the radially inner end of the rear surface. The first line and the second line therebetween define a backward tilt angle &#x3b1;, which satisfies a relationship of 30&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3b1;&#x2266;80&#xb0;.

A cover is inserted into a housing of a fuel pump. Then, a housing-side engaging portion of the housing, which is located at a peripheral edge of an opening of the housing, is heated with a heating means. Thereafter, the housing-side engaging portion is swaged by a punch toward the cover to fix the cover to the housing.

Method and apparatus for manufacturing fuel pump

A fuel pump includes a rotatable impeller having a plurality of blades and blade ditches on the periphery thereof, a motor section for driving the impeller, and a casing member which accommodates the impeller and has at least one fuel passage along an outer periphery of the impeller. The fuel passage communicates with the blade ditches. Moreover, a radially-inside inner surface of the fuel passage, with respect to an axis of rotation of the impeller, from a centerline on a bottom of the fuel passage to a radially inside edge of the fuel passage is formed as an approximately quadrant curved surface.

A fuel feed apparatus is accommodated in a fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus includes a sub-tank that is provided in a bottom of the fuel tank. The fuel feed apparatus further includes a fuel pump that is accommodated in the sub-tank. The fuel pump includes an impeller that defines a plurality of pump chambers. The fuel pump has a first suction passage through which fuel flows from outside the sub-tank into at least one of the plurality of pump chambers. The fuel feed apparatus further includes an elastic member that seals between the first suction passage and the sub-tank.

A fuel pump for supplying fuel drawn from a fuel tank into an internal combustion engine comprises a rotor, a rotation shaft, bearing members and a drawing force generative means. The rotation shaft revolves integrally with the rotor. The bearing members support both axial ends of the rotation shaft. The stator is disposed on an outer circumference of the rotor and surrounds the rotor. The drawing force generative means generates drawing force for drawing fuel from the fuel tank by means of rotation force of the rotor. The rotor has a recess in a center of its axial end portion. Moreover, at least one of the bearing members is disposed in the recess.

Fuel pump to be installed inside fuel tank

A fuel pump having a pumping impeller and an electric motor integrally contained in a cylindrical housing is submerged in a fuel tank of an automotive vehicle. The fuel pump pumps up fuel in the fuel tank and supplies pressurized fuel to an internal combustion engine. To make the fuel pump compact in size, i.e., small in diameter and short in length, a power-receiving connector of the fuel pump is coupled to a power-supplying connector by facing both connectors in the circumferential direction around the axis of the fuel pump. Elongate terminals in the power-receiving connector and brushes are positioned to overlap each other in the rotational direction of the fuel pump.

In a fuel pump, four permanent magnets are installed in a housing. An armature is installed inside the permanent magnets rotatably. Six magnetic pole coil portions of the armature are installed in a central core. Each magnetic pole coil portion has a coil core, a bobbin and a coil formed by winding a winding on the bobbin in a concentrated winding form. Each coil core has an outer region in opposition to the permanent magnet in a direction of revolution, and a board-shaped coil-winding portion extending from the outer region toward the central core. Each bobbin covers the coil core except for the outer surface of the outer region and a convex portion.

Fuel pump for high torque in compact structure

A commutator includes six segments disposed in the direction of rotation, and is attached to one axial end of an armature. By the commutator rotating together with the armature, each of the segments successively contacts a brush. Each of the segments is electrically connected with terminals through mid-terminals. Three of the six terminals, non-adjacent and alternatingly located in the direction of rotation, are electrically connected directly with mid-terminals facing in radial opposition. Capacitors are electrically connected directly with the terminals adjacent in the direction of rotation. Discharge does not occur between the brush and segments when the brush separates from the segments accompanying rotation of the armature, since electromagnetic energy built up in the coils of the armature is temporarily built up in the capacitors.

Motor, fuel pump, commutator, and method for manufacturing a commutator

A method of manufacturing a commutator of a rotary electric machine includes a step of forming a first unitary material having nail portions, a step of forming a second unitary material for the commutator segments, a step of fixing the first unitary material and the second unitary material together to form a pre-commutator unit so that the nails extend radially outward from the periphery of the pre-commutator unit, a step of inserting the pre-commutator unit between a pair of dies so that the dies hold the nails without a gap, and a step of charging liquid resinous material into the inside of the dies to mold the pre-commutator unit.

Method of manufacturing commutator of rotary electric machine

A fuel pump includes a housing, a pump section, a motor section including a commutator, a cover disposed at one end of the housing, a pair of brushes disposed in a pair of brush holes formed in the cover to be in contact with the commutator; and a pair of brush springs, disposed in a pair of spring holes formed in the cover, and an engaging member for restricting the brushes to move toward the motor section.

In a fuel pump having a high pump efficiency, an annular portion is formed on an outer periphery of an impeller to let one- and opposite-side blade grooves be independent of each other. Then, various improvements are made such as tilting front and rear wall surfaces of the blade grooves in a predetermined direction, forming one- and opposite-side blade grooves in a zigzag fashion, forming a guide surface in a communicating passage of a pump housing, and forming communicating holes in an impeller.

Impeller and turbine type fuel pump

A pipe member is pushed into an inner periphery of a core of an armature to fix the pipe member to the armature. The pipe member is inserted over a fixed shaft. Bearing members have a small hole and a large hole formed at their centers. Pipe member ends are pushed into and fixed to the large diameter holes. The fixed shaft is inserted into the small holes to rotatably support the armature. A guide hole is formed at the center of an impeller of a pump unit, and is fitted to the bearing member, thereby the impeller rotates while the impeller is guided by the outer peripheral surface of the bearing member which rotates integrally with the armature. Coupling protrusions formed on the armature are inserted, and engaged with engagement recesses formed in the impeller to transmit a rotation force of the armature to the impeller.

A turbine fuel pump for smoothly flowing fuel in a fuel inlet passage, preventing a pressure loss at a start end of a pump flow passage to prevent generation of a local negative pressure, thereby increasing pump efficiency. The turbine fuel pump includes an impeller with blades and blade grooves, and a pump housing having first and second housings for rotatably storing the impeller. The first housing has a C-shaped side groove, a fuel inlet passage which bends at a start end of the side groove toward the center of the first housing, and an opening on an outer side surface. The second housing has a C-shaped side groove, and a fuel outlet opening communicating with a terminal end of the side groove.

Turbine fuel pump

In a DC motor, a plurality of bobbins is respectively mounted on teeth of an armature core. The armature core is comprised of an internal core unit and an external core unit that is coaxially disposed outside the internal core unit. A plurality of armature coils is respectively wound around the bobbins. A case has a plurality of first terminal members that are respectively connected to commutator segments. Each of the armature coils is connected to each other via the first terminal members. Each of the bobbins includes a second terminal member that is coupled to one of the first terminal members.
