A communication method in a mobile communication system that transmits different data to which transmission sequence numbers have been attached, over each of a plurality of paths from a mobile station to a radio network controller via a plurality of base stations; where the radio network controller monitors the communication state of each path, determines to transmit the data over all of a plurality of paths, transmit the data over two or more specified paths, or transmit the data over only one specified path, based on the communication state of each path, and notifies the mobile station of the determined path/paths; and where the mobile station transmits different data to which different transmission sequence numbers have been attached, over said notified path/paths, and the radio network controller rearranges the data received from each path by reference to the transmission sequence numbers and transmits the rearranged data to a core network.

A base station device connected to a base station management device including: a wireless receiving unit receiving transmission data from a wireless terminal; a mode retaining unit stored with a centralized mode for setting a transmission destination of the transmission data in the base station management device, or a distributed mode for setting the transmission destination of the transmission data in none of the base station management device; and a wired transmitting unit transmitting the transmission data, wherein the wired transmitting unit, when the mode set in the mode retaining unit is the centralized mode, transmits the transmission data received from the wireless terminal to the base station management device, and, when the mode set in the mode retaining unit is the distributed mode, transmits the transmission data received from said wireless terminal toward a destination device of the transmission data.

A mobile communication system includes a radio network control apparatus having inside a function block for processing a downlink shared channel and table means for storing various setting information related to the downlink shared channel communication and the downlink shared channel multi-cast communication. According to the information, a multi-cast communication (including uni-cast communication) is realized by using the downlink shared channel for one or more mobile apparatuses. Moreover, a base station has a function to transmit the downlink shared channel data and signaling data received from a radio network control apparatus, to a mobile apparatus via a radio line. Furthermore, it is possible to multi-cast data selectively to a particular mobile apparatus being call-connected.

Mobile communication system using a downlink shared channel

A communications system having an ATM transmission line and an IP transmission line is disclosed that includes a base station capable of communicating with a mobile terminal through a radio link; and a radio network controller capable of communicating with the base station through the ATM or IP transmission line. The radio network controller includes a division part dividing transmission data into signals of a predetermined data size; a transmission part transmitting the divided signals to the base station at predetermined time intervals; a retransmission part retransmitting the signals transmitted to the base station when a response signal from the mobile terminal is not received within a predetermined period; a measuring part measuring a signal response period in a communications channel between the radio network controller and the mobile terminal through the base station; and a determination part determining the predetermined data size based on the measured response period.

A packet transferring/transmitting method is provided for use in a mobile communication system. In this packet transferring/transmitting method, an upper nodedetermines the implementation of handover (determination step), and a handover addressing nodetransfers, of a plurality of packets, a non-transmitted residual packet to a handover addressed node, and the upper nodetransmits a new packet to the handover addressed node(transfer/transmission step). This enables maintaining the number of users to be accommodated while securing a wide bandwidth, sharing a line with high efficiency at soft handover, avoiding data residual in the case of the employment of variable communication rate, and preventing an increase in retransmission.

A mobile communication system includes a mobile communication network connected to a core network (CN) and a plurality of radio network nodes included in the mobile communication network (RAN). Network resources for a data flow between a data transmission node and a data reception node that passes through the CN and RAN are reserved on the basis of RSVP. A region for refreshing a reservation state of network resources concerning the flow is divided into a CN side and an RAN side by taking a predetermined radio network node through which the flow passes as a boundary. Refreshment on the RAN side is conducted with a frequency higher than that of refreshment on the CN side.
