A connector is mounted in a connector holder. A test section is moved toward the connector holder by turning a driving mechanism. When probes of the test section come into contact with terminals secured in a housing of the connector mounted in the connector holder, the connector is tested for continuity. If an overload force is applied to the probes during a continuity test, predetermined load breakaway members supporting rear ends of the probes are broken and the probes are moved backward away from the terminals, thereby preventing damage to the terminals or the probes. It is possible to carry out the continuity test again by exchanging the broken breakaway members with new ones.

Continuity test unit for connector

A crimp terminal is supplied to a predetermined crimping position. Into the barrel of the supplied terminal, the wire end of an insulated conductor is inserted. At that time, the cable conductor end is aligned in the desired proper position for crimping. Even when the cable conductor end is deformed or broken in the stripping or supply processes, all the cable conductor ends can be reliably accommodated in the barrel of the terminal. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent crimping defects caused by exclusion from the terminal of one or more wire ends.

Terminal crimping apparatus

A crimp terminal having a crimp barrel crimped to an end of an electric wire is disclosed. The crimp barrel has a body of semicircular cross section and a couple of crimp wings which integrally extend from ends of the circular arc of the body and are caulked around the end of the electric wire in a mutually overlapped state. The crimp wings are overlapped and locked so they prevent each other from moving in a direction to release the overlap. It is preferred that each of crimp wings has a hook portion mutually locked on a locking surface. Also, a process for producing the crimp terminal is disclosed.

Crimp terminal and process for producing the same

An opened barrel type crimp terminal having a body of semicircular cross section which surrounds an end of an electric wire. A pair of claws integrally extend from ends of a circular arc of the body and are adapted to be crimped on the end of the electric wire. This invention further includes a method of crimping the crimp terminal on the end of the electric wire. The body containing the end of the electric wire is put on a pressure receiving member. One of the claws extends a predetermined length longer than the other claw. A pressing member is displaced with respect to the pressure receiving member to bend the longer claw above the other claw so that the longer claw laps over the other claw. This crimps the electric wire into the crimp terminal.

Terminal crimping method and crimp terminal used therefor

There is provided a terminal crimping apparatus for moving a plurality of crimp terminals respectively contained in a plurality of connector housings to a crimping position in a desired order to caulk the crimp terminal on an end of an electric wire. The terminal crimping apparatus includes one turntable for holding a plurality of types of pressure receiving members for receiving the crimp terminals and another turntable for holding a plurality of types of caulking members for caulking the crimp terminals between the turntable and the various types of pressure receiving members. A desired pressure receiving member alternatively selected by the rotation of one turntable is moved to a pressure receiving position. A desired caulking member alternatively selected by the rotation of the other turntable is moved to a caulking waiting position opposed to the crimp terminal in the crimping position. The caulking member in the caulking waiting position is pressed to the caulking position by a pressing mechanism, so that the crimp terminal is caulked on the end of the electric wire.

An apparatus for laying a wire in a junction box comprises means for performing the steps of: setting (S1) a covered wire E on a wiring plate along a wiring pattern arranged on said wiring plate by causing a relative movement between a wire feeder which successively feeds a single wire and the wiring plate along guide means formed on the wiring plate; cutting off (S2) portions unnecessary for conductive circuits from the wiring set on the wiring plate; and forming (S3) the conductive circuits in the junction box by inserting the wire remaining on the wiring plate into the wire-coupling portions of connecting terminals secured to a base and by removing the junction box from the wiring plate. Thus, it is possible to speed up the wire-laying work in a junction box having many conductive circuits.

Apparatus for laying a wire in a junction box

The present invention is directed to a terminal crimping apparatus comprising a pressure receiving member having a pressure receiving surface receiving a crimped terminal loaded in a connector housing, a caulking member having a crimping surface, for caulking the crimped terminal in the connector housing between the caulking member and the pressure receiving member, a surrounding member integrally extending from the caulking member and adapted to pass through the connector housing toward the pressure receiving member, for surrounding the pressure receiving member with little clearance, and a regulating member for preventing the surrounding member from being deformed at the time of caulking the crimped terminal.
