A light guide plate having light-emitting-side unit optical shapes arranged on a light emitting surface in a direction perpendicular to a light guide direction and a thickness direction of the light guide plate. The optical shape extends in the light guide direction and has a groove shape recessed in the light emitting surface, and a bottom of the groove is formed on a surface which is concave toward the back surface side. Inclined surfaces which are inclined from an edge portion toward the bottom side are formed in two end portions of the concave surface in an arrangement direction. When a width of the optical shape in the arrangement direction is W, a maximum inclination angle &#x3b8; of the inclined surface relative to the light emitting surface satisfies 20&#xb0;&#x2266;&#x3b8;&#x2266;45&#xb0;, and a radius of curvature r of the concave surface satisfies r&#x2267;W/(4&#xd7;sin &#x3b8;).

An optical module includes a polarizing plate and a light emitter disposed in a position facing the polarizing plate. The polarizing plate includes a polarizer and a protective film joined to the polarizer. The protective film has a light control function that changes the traveling direction of light. The light emitter is disposed in a position directly facing the protective film of the polarizing plate.

There is provided a protective film to be bonded to a polarizer to form a lower polarizing plate for a liquid crystal display panel. The protective film for a lower polarizing plate includes a matrix of a resin material and a diffusing component dispersed in the matrix. A multipath noise reducer detects and removes the individual noise spikes occurring in an interval of multipath noise, thereby reducing the multipath noise with minimal distortion of the audio output signal. The multipath noise spikes are detected by comparing a rectified signal with a threshold signal derived from the rectified signal. When the multipath noise reducer is used in an FM stereo radio receiver, stereo separation may also be controlled according to the detection of multipath noise.
