Thermostable bilirubin oxidase having substrate specificity to at least bilirubin and capable of catalyzing a reaction in which biliverdin and water are formed from bilirubin and oxygen. It can be produced by culturing a bilirubin oxidase producing micro-organism belonging to the genus Bacillus, for example, Bacillus licheniformis and then preparing the resultant bilirubin oxidase from the cultured broth.

Tyramine oxidase, which is useful for the clinical diagnosis of leucine aminopeptidase activity in serum, is produced by culturing the microorganism Arthrobacter sp. B-0813 FERM-P No. 6240 in a nutrient medium, and isolating thus-produced tyramine oxidase from the cultured medium.

Process for the production of tyramine oxidase

L-amino acid oxidase is obtained by culturing a microorganism which can produce L-amino acid oxidase and belongs to the genus Colletotrichum, e.g. Colletotrichum sp. M5073, deposition number FERMP 5441, in a culturing medium and recovering the oxidase from cells of the microorganism.
