An object of the present disclosure is to provide a method for manufacturing a multi-layer stack with excellent mechanical strength and thermal insulation properties. A multi-layer stack includes a glass panel unit, an intermediate film, and a transparent plate attached via the intermediate film to the glass panel unit. The glass panel unit includes a first glass panel, a second glass panel, and an evacuated space interposed between the first glass panel and the second glass panel. The method includes assembling the glass panel unit and the transparent plate together via the intermediate film inside an evacuated chamber.

A method for manufacturing a glass panel unit includes a working step, an assembling step, a bonding step, and a gas exhausting step. The working step includes a getter material making step including obtaining a getter material containing a zeolite and a cerium compound. The assembling step includes preparing an assembly. An activable temperature of the at least one particle is equal to or lower than 400° C.

The seal has a frame shape and hermetically bonds respective peripheral edge portions of the first panel and the second panel to create an internal space between the first panel and the second panel. The connecting void is provided for a portion, other than a portion facing the internal space, of at least one of the first panel or the second panel. The electric wire is extended from the internal space to the connecting void by passing through the seal.

The method includes a step of producing a getter material by heating an unprocessed getter material at a temperature higher than a prescribed temperature Te; a step of producing a preassembled component including a first and second glass pane, a heat-fusible sealing material, an internal space, and a gas adsorbent containing the getter material, and an evacuation port; a step of forming a frame body hermetically bonding the first glass pane and the second glass pane together by melting the heat-fusible sealing material with heat; and a step of heating the gas adsorbent at the prescribed temperature Te while the internal space is evacuated by exhausting air in the internal space through the evacuation port.

A multi-layer laminate includes a glass panel unit, an intermediate film, and a transparent plate. The transparent plate is assembled to the glass panel unit via the intermediate film. The glass panel unit includes a first and second glass panel, and an evacuated space. The evacuated space is interposed between the first and second glass panel. A method for manufacturing the multi-layer laminate includes a step. The step includes exhausting a gas from a bag, loaded with the glass panel unit, the intermediate film, and the transparent plate, to cause the bag to shrink and thereby assembling, using the bag thus shrunk, the glass panel unit and the transparent plate via the intermediate film. The step includes raising a pressure inside the bag from a pressure at an initial stage of heating while increasing a temperature of the intermediate film to a predetermined temperature at which the intermediate film softens.

The body has a frame shape and includes: a first part containing a first sealing material having a first softening point; and a second part containing a second sealing material having a second softening point that is higher than the first softening point. The reinforcing portion contains a third sealing material having a third softening point that is higher than the first softening point. A glass panel unit manufacturing method includes a bonding step, an insertion step, an evacuation step, and a sealing step. The bonding step includes bonding a first substrate having an evacuation port and a second substrate with a bonding material having a frame shape to form an internal space. The insertion step includes inserting a sealing material into the evacuation port. The evacuation step includes evacuating the internal space by connecting an exhaust device to the evacuation port and driving the exhaust device. The sealing step includes sealing the evacuation port with the sealing material while an evacuated state in the internal space is maintained. In the sealing step, a measured value by a pressure gauge is monitored while the sealing material is heated, softening of the sealing material is detected based on the transition of the measured value, and heating of the sealing material is stopped.
