There is provided an ink jet recording method for recording an image on a recording medium with an aqueous ink and an aqueous reaction liquid containing a reactant that reacts with the aqueous ink. The aqueous ink contains a pigment dispersed by the action of a carboxylic acid group, a resin particle and a water-soluble organic solvent. The rate of increase in the particle size of the pigment dispersed by the action of the carboxylic acid group when the pigment comes into contact with the aqueous reaction liquid is 8.0 times or more. The amount of water absorbed by the recording medium from the start of contact to 30 msecin a Bristow method is 10 mL/mor less.

Ink jet recording method and ink jet recording apparatus

The ink jet recording method includes ejecting an aqueous ink from a recording head to apply the aqueous ink to a recording medium, to thereby record an image. An ink tank is used for an ink jet recording apparatus and includes an ink storage bag storing an ink, and the ink storage bag has no mechanism for allowing a side wall portion to shrink into a preliminary defined shape but has a side wall portion to shrink as the ink flows out. The ink tank has no mechanism for adjusting the pressure in the ink storage bag, the ink storage bag is made from a resin, the ink is an aqueous ink containing a coloring material and a water-soluble organic solvent, and the difference between the average SP of the water-soluble organic solvent and the SP of the resin constituting the ink storage bag is 2.0 (cal/cm)or more. An ink jet recording apparatus includes the ink tank and a recording head that ejects an ink supplied from the ink tank by an ink jet method.

Provided is a pigment particle suitable for an ink capable of recording an image that is excellent in color developability and lightfastness, and has a yellow hue. The pigment particle is a pigment particle having a structure represented by the following formula (1), in which a maximum absorption wavelength of an absorption spectrum in a wavelength region of 200 nm or more and 800 nm or less is present in a range of 340 nm or more and 360 nm or less.

An ink includes a plurality of pigments, a plurality of water-soluble polymers, a surfactant, and a water-soluble organic solvent. The surfactant includes a polyoxyethylene alkyl ether having an HLB value of 13.0 or more as a value determined by a Griffin method, the plurality of pigments include C.I. Pigment Yellow 74 and C.I. Pigment Yellow 128, the plurality of water-soluble polymers include an acrylic polymer and a urethane polymer, and the water-soluble organic solvent includes a compound represented by the following Formula (1): HO&#x2014;(CHCHO)&#x2014;H, wherein n is an integer of 1 to 4.

Provided are an ink with which an image excellent in both black density and glossiness can be recorded, and an ink cartridge and an ink jet recording method each using the ink. Provided are an ink suitable for ink jet recording with which a color image excellent in both color developability and glossiness can be recorded, and an ink cartridge and an ink jet recording method in each of which the ink is utilized. Specifically, provided are an ink including: an organic pigment; a resin for dispersing the organic pigment; and a resin fine particle, in which an average particle diameter of the resin fine particle is 0.60 time or more and 1.2 times or less as large as an average particle diameter of the organic pigment, and an ink cartridge and an ink jet recording method in each of which the ink is utilized.
