A printer includes a head that is positioned at a plurality of recording positions by moving in a direction which is orthogonal to a transport direction of a sheet and a pressing member that has a medium guide surface which is able to face the sheet, in which when the head is positioned, the medium guide surface is positioned below the head surface, and during maintenance of the head, the medium guide surface is positioned above the head surface.

A liquid ejecting head is adapted to eject liquid toward a target medium. A transporter is adapted to transport a tray on which the target medium is mounted toward a region facing the liquid ejecting head via a transporting path. A tray guide is disposed in a front side of the liquid ejecting apparatus, and having a supporting face adapted to support the tray thereon. The tray guide is movable between a first position connecting the supporting face with the transporting path to allow the transporter to transport the tray to the transporting path and a second position escaping the supporting face from the transporting path. The supporting face is kept being parallel to the transporting path when the tray guide is moved between the first position and the second position.

A liquid ejecting head is adapted to eject liquid toward a target medium, A transporter is adapted to transport a tray on which the target medium is mounted toward a region facing the liquid ejecting head via a transporting path. A tray guide is disposed in a front side of the liquid ejecting apparatus, and having a supporting face adapted to support the tray thereon. The tray guide is movable between a first position connecting the supporting face with the transporting path to allow the transporter to transport the tray to the transporting path and a second position escaping the supporting face from the transporting path. In order to detect a position of an optical recording medium on which printing is performed, it is provided an optical sensor provided with include a photo emitter operable to emit light and a photo receiver operable to receive light and output a first signal in accordance with an amount of the received light. The optical sensor is transported to a position above a marker provided on the tray. Light is emitted from the photo emitter to irradiate the marker. Light reflected from the marker is received by the photo receiver. A reference value is determined based on a first value of the first signal outputted when the marker is irradiated. A predetermined calculation is executed with respect to the reference value to determine a threshold value. The optical sensor is transported above the tray, while emitting light from the photo emitter and comparing the first signal outputted from the photo receiver with the threshold value. A position of the marker is identified based on the comparison of the first signal and the threshold value. It is determined a position at which the printing begins based on the identified position of the marker.

A recording device including a linear transporting path for transporting a plate-shaped body, comprising a stacker disposed downstream from an ejecting unit, the stacker being capable of switching between a first position where the stacker forms a portion of the linear transporting path and a second position which is positioned below the first position and where the stacker stacks the recording medium ejected by the ejecting unit, wherein the stacker includes a pair of guide ribs which supports the plate-shaped body at the first position and guides both side ends of the plate-shaped body positioned at the first position, and which to support the ejected recording medium at the second position.
