A battery of the present disclosure includes a first solid-state battery cell and a buffer layer. The first solid-state battery cell includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a solid electrolyte layer located between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode or the negative electrode has a current collector. The buffer layer is in contact with a face of the current collector opposite to the solid electrolyte layer. The buffer layer includes a thermally expandable material and a conductive resin.

Battery having a solid-state battery cell and a buffer layer

A battery includes: a plurality of solid-state battery cells; and a connection layer located between the solid-state battery cells. Each of the solid-state battery cells has a structure in which a positive electrode current collector, a positive electrode active material layer, a solid electrolyte layer including an inorganic solid electrolyte, a negative electrode active material layer, and a negative electrode current collector are laminated in this order. The solid-state battery cells are electrically connected in series. The positive electrode current collector of one of a pair of the solid-state battery cells and the negative electrode current collector of the other of the pair of the solid-state battery cells are laminated via the connection layer, the pair of the solid-state battery cells are adjacent solid-state battery cells among the solid-state battery cells. The connection layer includes a conductive material, and the Young's modulus of the connection layer is lower than the Young's moduli of the positive electrode current collector, the positive electrode active material layer, the solid electrolyte layer, the negative electrode active material layer, and the negative electrode current collector.

Battery having a plurality of solid-state battery cells

A battery includes an electrode layer, a counter electrode layer facing the electrode layer, and a solid electrolyte layer located between the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer. The electrode layer includes an electrode current collector and an electrode active material layer located between the electrode current collector and the solid electrolyte layer and having an area smaller than those of the electrode current collector and the solid electrolyte layer in plan view. In a first region including the electrode active material layer and a second region outside the first region in plan view, the solid electrolyte layer covers the outside of the electrode active material layer and is in contact with the electrode current collector in the second region, and the electrode current collector or the solid electrolyte layer includes at least one structural defect portion in a line shape in plan view in the second region.

A battery includes positive and negative electrode terminals, positive and negative electrode layers, a positive electrode current collector electrically connected to the positive electrode layer and the positive electrode terminal, a negative electrode current collector electrically connected to the negative electrode layer and the negative electrode terminal, a bipolar current collector positioned between the positive and negative electrode current collectors, a solid electrolyte layer positioned between the positive and negative electrode current collectors, and an insulating sealing member positioned between the positive and negative electrode current collectors and surrounding the solid electrolyte layer, wherein the positive electrode current collector and the negative electrode terminal are electrically isolated with a gap, the negative electrode current collector and the positive electrode terminal are electrically isolated with a gap, and the bipolar current collector is electrically isolated from the positive and negative electrode terminals with gaps.

Battery

A laminated battery includes a plurality of battery cells which are laminated and a current collecting lead. Each of the plurality of battery cells has a structure in which a positive electrode current collector, a positive electrode active material layer, a solid electrolyte layer, a negative electrode active material layer, and a negative electrode current collector are laminated in this order. The plurality of battery cells include first and second battery cells adjacent to each other. The first battery cell has a surface that faces the second battery cell and includes an exposed surface not in contact with the second battery cell. At least part of the exposed surface does not overlap the second battery cell when viewed from a laminating direction of the battery cells. The current collecting lead is connected to the exposed surface.

Laminated battery

A laminated battery includes battery cells which are laminated and a current collecting lead. Each of the battery cells has a structure in which a positive electrode current collector, a positive electrode active material layer, a solid electrolyte layer, a negative electrode active material layer, and a negative electrode current collector are laminated in this order. The battery cells include first and second battery cells adjacent to each other. At least the second battery cell has a side surface inclined with respect to a laminating direction of the battery cells. The first battery cell has a surface facing the second battery cell and including an exposed surface not in contact with the second battery cell. At least part of the exposed surface overlaps at least part of the side surface of the second battery cell viewed from the laminating direction. The current collecting lead is connected to the exposed surface.

A solid electrolyte according to the present disclosure includes first particles consisted of a first solid electrolyte material and second particles consisted of a second solid electrolyte material. The first solid electrolyte material has a higher ionic conductivity than the second solid electrolyte material. The second solid electrolyte material has a lower Young's modulus than the first solid electrolyte material.

Solid electrolyte and battery using same

A battery includes an electrode layer, a counter electrode layer, which is a counter electrode for the electrode layer, and a solid electrolyte layer between the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer. The solid electrolyte layer has a first region containing a first solid electrolyte material and a second region containing a second solid electrolyte material. The first region is positioned within a region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other. The second region is positioned on an outer peripheral side of the region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other, and is in contact with the first region. The first region includes a first projecting portion that projects outward from a region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other, and the second region covers the first projecting portion.

Provided is a varistor assembly capable of achieving good surge breakdown voltage while suppressing capacitance. The varistor assembly is obtained by connecting a plurality of varistor elements in parallel. Each varistor element includes: a sintered body obtained by sintering a laminate in which varistor layers and internal electrodes are alternately laminated; and a pair of external electrodes provided in a state where the internal electrodes are alternately connected on at least both end faces of this sintered body. Varistor element includes at least a plurality of first group varistor elements in which a value obtained by dividing a surface area of the sintered body by a volume of the sintered body is 1.9 mmor more.

Varistor assembly

A battery includes an electrode layer, a counter electrode layer, and a solid electrolyte layer between the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer. The solid electrolyte layer has a first region containing a first solid electrolyte material and a second region containing a second solid electrolyte material. The first region is within a region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other. With respect to the first region, the second region is positioned on an outer peripheral side of the region where the electrode layer and the counter electrode layer face each other, and is in contact with the first region. A second density, which is the density of the second solid electrolyte material in the second region, is higher than a first density, which is the density of the first solid electrolyte material in the first region.

A varistor includes an effective layer having first and second surfaces opposite to each other, a first ineffective layer stacked on the first surface of the effective layer, a second ineffective layer stacked on the second surface of the effective layer, and an external electrode. The effective layer includes a ceramic layer having a polycrystalline structure including crystal particles exhibiting voltage nonlinear characteristics, and internal electrodes stacked alternately on the ceramic layer. The thickness of the second ineffective layer is equal to or more than 1.1 times a thickness of the first ineffective layer and equal to or smaller than 6 times the thickness of the first ineffective layer. This varistor has a small size and excellent surge resistance.

Provided is a solid electrolyte containing a crystal phase having a chemical composition Li&#x3b1;&#x3b2;O, where &#x3b1; includes Pr, &#x3b2; includes Zr, &#x2212;0.05&#x2264;x&#x2264;0.35, &#x2212;0.5&#x2264;a&#x2264;0.5, and &#x2212;0.5&#x2264;b&#x2264;0.5.

A chromaticity of zinc oxide is measured. The durability of a zinc oxide varistor is evaluated based on the chromaticity. This provides a varistor with a high durability stably.

Varistor and manufacturing method thereof

A battery includes a unit cell including an electrode layer and a counter electrode layer; a first current collector disposed on a side of the electrode layer opposite to the counter electrode layer and electrically connected to the electrode layer; a first solid electrolyte layer disposed in contact with a lateral side of the unit cell; and a first copper sulfide layer containing copper sulfide. The first current collector contains copper. The first copper sulfide layer is disposed between the first current collector and the first solid electrolyte layer and in contact with the first current collector and the first solid electrolyte layer.

A battery includes a first current collector, a laminate disposed on a first region of a surface of the first current collector, a thermal-expandable layer disposed on a second region of the surface of the first current collector, and a second current collector disposed on both of the laminate and the thermal-expandable layer. The laminate includes a first active material layer disposed on the first region, an electrolyte layer disposed on the first active material layer, and a second active material layer disposed on the electrolyte layer. A thermal expansion ratio of the thermal-expandable layer is greater than a thermal expansion ratio of the laminate.
