Audio signals that correspond with still images are recorded in an electronic still camera on the same magnetic disc as the visual images. By time-base compressing the audio signal and dividing each record track into a number of segments, ten seconds of audio can be recorded for each image without requiring a large processor memory. Identification codes are added to the time-base compressed audio to permit multiple audio tracks to be associated with a recorded image and to record audio signals of time length less than the allotted duration, so that a number of images can be recorded in rapid succession without waiting for each of the successive allotted audio time periods to expire.

In an information recording and/or reproducing apparatus in which a spindle motor rotates a magnetic recording disc at a predetermined speed while a transducer head is in contacting relation to the disc for recording and/or reproducing information signals in substantially circular concentric record tracks thereon, and a transducer positioning device is coupled to the transducer head for positioning the latter on a selected one of said record tracks; a memory is provided for storing identification signals which correspond to the various types of information signals recorded in concentric record tracks, respectively, and a display is coupled to the identification signal storing memory for displaying simultaneously the identification signals for all of the record tracks.

Still image recording and/or reproducing apparatus

A digital data recovery circuit for recovering digital data recorded on a magnetic record medium along with still-image video signals in a frequency mulitplexed relationship employs two phase-control-loops, in which the first loop corrects absolute or DC phase errors and the second phase-control-loop corrects AC phase errors evidenced as abrupt phase shifts of the digital data signal caused by changes in rotation of the magnetic record by using a horizontal synchronization signal derived from the video signal, and in which the outputs of loop filters included in the first and second phase-control loops, respectively, are combined to provide a control signal for a voltage controlled oscillator that provides a demodulating carrier signal so that a synchronous detector can detect the digital data signal, thereby to cause the synchronous detector to lock onto even abrupt phase shifts in the carrier of the digital data signal.
