The present invention provides a grease for copper electrical contacts having excellent properties which comprises polyol complex ester base oil and a specific amount of particular additives, i.e. quaternary ammonium salt-containing clay mineral, secondary aromatic amine antioxidant and a copper deactivator selected from the group consisting of benzotriazoles, thiodiazoles, and N,N'-disalicylidene- 1,2-diaminopropane. The grease according to the present invention can be applied effectively to a copper slide contact under both low temperature (ca.- 40.degree. C.) and high temperature (ca. 160.degree. C.) conditions.

The present invention provides a grease for a slide contact which comprises 100 parts by weight of a synthetic base oil which contains synthetic poly-.alpha.-olefin oil mixture as a main ingredient consisting of synthetic poly-.alpha.-olefin oil having a low viscosity of from 8 to 30 cSt (40.degree. C.) and synthetic poly-.alpha.-olefin oil having a high viscosity of 470 cSt (40 .degree. C.), 0.1-10 parts by weight of fine particulate clay mineral having micropores and/or fine particulate clay mineral structure having monolayers capable of intercalating water or anions, 5-25 parts by weight of thickener consisting of 12-hydroxy lithium stearate and lithium stearate in a weight ratio of from 20:1 to 5: 1, and 0.1-2.0 parts by weight of a phenolic primary antioxidant. The grease according to the present invention is particularly suitable as a grease for a slide contact of the sliding switch of vehicles such as an automobile.

The present invention provides the lubricant for an electrical sliding contactor having excellent properties which comprises a synthetic wax or a grease composition comprising specific base oil and thickner and the defined amounts of specific additives, i.e. specific n-type semiconductor and/or the substance which changes into said semiconductor and alkylphosphoric acid surfactant. The lubricant according to the present invention can be applied effectively to an electrical sliding contactor for high current such as a slide contact of a sliding switch employed under more than 12 volts, sliding parts of trolley wire for an electric train and the like.

The present invention provides grease a compositions having excellent properties which comprises base oil consisting of specified amounts of a chain hydrocarbon oligomer and the addition polymerization oligomer of alkylene oxide and polyvalent alcohol and the defined amounts of specific additives, such as lithium salt of higher fatty acid, quaternary ammonium salt-containing clay mineral, polar solvents and the like. The grease composition can be applied effectively, for example, on the plastic parts of automobiles, plastic parts of sound apparatus, sliding contact switches and the like.
