An information processing device that can use two different functions for returning an initial screen and a preceding state by a simple method, a control method of the same device and a recording medium for recording a control program for the same device are provided. An information processing device having an initial screen including an initial image presentable after turning on a power supply and having a returning means for returning from a current screen state to a preceding screen state or returning from any screen state to the initial screen, wherein it is provided with a key-operation counting portion for counting the number-of-operations of a specific key, a reference storage portion for storing the reference number-of-operations of the specific key, a comparison portion for comparing the number of operations counted by the key-operation counting portion with the reference value stored in the reference storage portion, and a control means for driving the returning means according to the comparison result in such a way that the returning means executes its function for returning to the initial screen state when the counted number matches the reference number and the returning means executes its function for returning to a preceding screen state when the counted number does not match the reference number.

An information processing apparatus in accordance with the present invention includes a main body input and output section, provided to a main body cabinet section, for displaying a plan view of an object; and a lid body input and output section, provided to a lid body, for displaying a front view of the object. The main body cabinet section and the lid body are connected to each other by hinges so as to be opened and closed. A main control section is provided for changing a display state of the object on either the main body input and output section or the lid body input and output section in a predetermined manner, in response to a change in the display state of the object on the other input and output section. Therefore, the information processing apparatus can display the object in a three-dimensional manner in the plan and front views by referring to the display sections of the input and output sections, allowing the user to visually recognize the object with a natural appearance in a three-dimensional manner.

An input/display apparatus for handwritten characters is capable of quickly inputting handwritten characters, freely editing characters inputted, and storing a lot of handwritten characters with a limited storing capacity. On a display panel provided with a display surface, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, a touch panel provided. An input surface of the touch panel, the orthogonal coordinates of which are preset, is disposed in such a way that the display surface and the input surface overlap each other. When the input surface is indicated with an input pen, the indicated coordinate point is outputted. At the time of handwriting input, when the input surface in the input/display area for characters is continuously indicated, coordinate points on the display surface corresponding to the plurality of indicated coordinate points are displayed. After the handwriting input is over, stroke data consisting of coordinate points extracted on the basis of predetermined references from among a plurality of coordinate points outputted from the touch panel at the time of handwriting input are prepared. The stroke data are displayed by being converted to a size corresponding to the width of the line set in the area after the display position of the cursor.

Input and display apparatus for handwritten characters

A portable terminal device in which information items for each kind of memorandum data are previously registered in a RAM. An operator can select a desired kind of memorandum information from among a plurality of kinds of memorandum information by depressing a memorandum key. A guidance as to a first information item of the selected kind of memorandum information is displayed on a display portion. The operator can input data of the first information item with keys by following the guidance on the display portion. When the input operation for the data of the first information item is finished, a line-feed is automatically inserted by depressing a specified key, and a next guidance as to a second information item is displayed on the display portion. The operator inputs data of the second information item with the keys by following the displayed guidance. In a similar manner, the operator sequentially inputs data of all the information items by following the corresponding guidance on the display portion. When the input operation for the data of all the information items is completed, the whole data is stored into the RAM. The stored data is read out and displayed on the display portion at any desired time.

Portable terminal device

An electronic apparatus capable of automatically dialing a phone number includes a unit for storing data, a unit for registering data of the phone number and a predetermined data on the storing unit, a unit for generating a tone signal for dialing the phone number, and a unit for controlling the tone signal generating unit to generate a tone signal corresponding to the phone number in case that the predetermined data is registered on the storing unit.

A small electronic apparatus such as an electronic organizer, electronic memo, etc. is disclosed which has a memory for storing data, and a communication unit for transmitting data stored in the memory to another electronic apparatus, and for receiving data from the other electronic apparatus. The apparatus selects, before transmitting at least one portion of said data, either of an add mode (transmitted data is added to data stored in the other electronic apparatus) and a update mode (data stored in the other electronic apparatus is replaced with the transmitted data). Dial data inputted from a keyboard are registered in an internal memory. When the desired dial data are retrieved from the registered dial data and a dial key is pressed, the retrieved dial data are converted to corresponding dial tone signals and supplied to a speaker. Thus, the speaker outputs corresponding dial tones. At this time, a portable automatic dialing unit is acoustically coupled to the mouthpiece of a telephone set. Thus, the dial tones outputted from the speaker are again converted to the dial tone signals by the telephone set and transmitted to a telephone line, thereby driving a telephone switchboard. If the dial data include key code data 'P', production of the dial tone signals is interrupted for a prescribed period. If the dial data include key code data 'P-P', on the other hand, production of the dial tone signals is interrupted until the dial key is pressed again.

Data processor for processing data singly or in an array

A schedule displaying device is provided with a comparator and a controller in addition to a memory, an input device, a display, and a timer. Thus, the scheduled plans are stored and displayed together with the respective scheduled time in a corresponding manner and in time sequence. Moreover, the number of the scheduled plans is arranged to be counted and displayed for each day of the week in the schedule displaying device.

An improved electronic apparatus such as a so-called electronic memo or data book is disclosed. In the apparatus, a numeric string such as a telephone number can be stored together with two kinds of character strings such as a person name and a company name. The apparatus has a memory for storing a portion of data displayed on a display, and the portion of data can used as a search key in the subsequent search operation. The apparatus allows a user to easily utilize the called results of either a sequential search or a direct search in a subsequent direct search and to change the mode to a sequential search at any desired point during execution of a direct search.

A portable electronic device provided with an input portion, an LCD having both dot matrix and segment display portions, a memory for storing input character and numerical information, a write/read portion performing write/read operations on character and numerical information for the memory, a buffer for temporarily storing information which has been previously read or written, a display control portion which outputs the character information in the buffer to the dot matrix display portion and the numerical information to the segment display portion, respectively, and a conversion portion which, when the numerical information exceeds the display digit number of the segment display portion, converts the numerical information contained in the segment display into dot matrix display data and transfers it to the dot matrix display portion for display, and at the same time, displays the numerical information which exceeds the display digit number on the segment display portion which has become an empty area due to the transfer.

Input system for use in a portable type data processing device

In a portable dialing unit dial data inputted through a keyboard are registered in an internal memory. The speaker outputs corresponding tones. A portable automatic dialing unit is acoustically coupled to a mouthpiece of a telephone set. The tones outputted from the speaker are again converted to tone signals by the telephone set, and transmitted to a telephone line. A switchboard is driven by the tone signals. The unit includes two modes: The first mode includes registered target numbers and the second mode includes data for special telephone service. The target number in the first mode can be inserted into any position of the data in the second mode.

In an electronic appliance capable of storing secret data to be kept secret and data other than the secret data in distinction from each other, only the secret data can be erased upon a first reset operation and the data other than the secret data can be erased upon a second reset operation.
