Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for remotely managing access to an area. An access management platform, which can be an electronic lock that is installed on, e.g., a door of a house, can enable a user to establish a virtual presence at the door. In one example, a delivery person activates a doorbell button/icon of the access management platform, which sends a message to a smartphone of the owner of the platform. The owner, who is at work, uses his smartphone to initiate a video stream using a camera of the platform, and a two way audio stream. The owner sees and initiates a discussion with the delivery person. The owner uses his smartphone to unlock the door, and asks the delivery person to open the door and deliver the package inside. The owner uses his smartphone to capture his signature to acknowledge the delivery.

Access management system

An optical apparatus includes a lightguide and an optical combiner. The lightguide receives display light having an initial cross-section size and guides the display light down the lightguide. The lightguide includes internal optical elements that redirect the display light out of the lightguide with an expanded cross-section size that is larger than the initial cross-section size. The optical combiner combines the display light having the expanded cross-section with ambient scene light. The optical combiner includes an ambient scene side, an eye-ward side, and one or more reflective optical elements that pass at least a portion of the ambient scene light incident along an eye-ward direction on the ambient scene side through to the eye-ward side and redirect the display light having the expanded cross-section and incident on the eye-ward side to the eye-ward direction. The one or more reflective optical elements are substantially without lensing power.

Head wearable display using powerless optical combiner

A locking device that can be mounted into a rotating or swinging door is disclosed. The locking device can have a deadbolt. The locking device can detect the position of the deadbolt and/or whether the door is closed. The locking device can have a camera, microphone and speaker. The locking device can send images detected by the camera and audio detected by the microphones to a remote computer.

Door tracking system and method

Disclosed are an apparatus and method that enables an owner/administrator to manage access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of biometric data. For example, access to a shared physical resource can be restricted via use of a biometric locking device. An access management platform can be used to authorize a new user to access the shared resource. Once authorized, the new user can unlock the biometric locking device based on, for example, fingerprint data of his finger. The access management platform can similarly be used to manage access to a virtual shared resource, such as an online account. A virtual locking device, such as a computer that acts as an intermediary between the user and the online account, can be used to restrict access to the online account. The access management platform can enable the user to access the online account based on biometric data.

Systems, apparatus and methods including a contact lens that facilitates collection and/or processing of information associated with sensed features are provided. In one aspect, a system can include a contact lens and an analysis component external to the contact lens. The contact lens can include: a substrate; and a circuit, disposed on or within the substrate. The circuit can include: a plurality of sensors configured to sense respective features associated with a wearer of the contact lens; and a communication component configured to communicate information indicative of sensed features. The analysis component can be configured to: receive the information indicative of the sensed features; and generate statistical information based, at least, on the information indicative of the sensed features.

Information processing method

An eyepiece for a head wearable display includes a lightguide component for guiding display light and emitting the display light along at a viewing region. The light guide component includes an input surface oriented to receive the display light into the lightguide component at the peripheral location, a first folding surface disposed to reflect the display light received through the input surface, a second folding surface disposed to reflect the display light received from the first folding surface, an eye-ward facing surface disposed opposite to the second folding surface to reflect the display light received from the second folding surface, and a curved reflective surface having reflective optical power disposed at the viewing region to receive the display light reflected from the eye-ward facing surface and to reflect the display light for emission out through the eye-ward facing surface.

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for managing access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of personal data, such as biometric data, a password, etc. An electronic lock can be used to restrict access to a shared resource, such as a house, a car, etc. In some embodiments, the electronic lock establishes an identity of a user based on personal data obtained by a personal data device of the electronic lock. In some embodiments, the electronic lock includes a sensor that generates security-related sensor data, such as motion sensor data, proximity data, etc. The electronic lock can take a security-related action based on the security-related data. For example, the electronic lock can send a message indicating a possible break in attempt when the motion sensor data indicates motion indicative of a break in.

An apparatus includes an illumination module, an end reflector, and a beam splitter. The illumination module launches display light along a forward propagating path within an eyepiece. The end reflector is disposed at an opposite end of the eyepiece from the illumination module and reflects back the display light traveling along a reverse propagating path. The beam splitter is disposed in the forward propagating path between the end reflector and the illumination module. The beam splitter directs a first portion of the display light traveling along the forward propagating path out a first side of the eyepiece. The beam splitter directs a second portion of the display light traveling along the reverse propagation path out a second side of the eyepiece.

Display method

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for managing access to a shared resource based on identity that is established by use of biometric data. A biometric locking device (i.e., a 'b-lock') can be used to restrict access to a shared resource, such as a house, a car, etc. In some embodiments, the b-lock can establish an identity of a user based on biometric data obtained by a biometric sensor of the b-lock, and can register the biometric data. After the biometric data is registered, the user can scan, e.g., his finger using the biometric sensor of the b-lock, and the b-lock can verify that the biometric data obtained based on the scan of the finger matches the registered biometric data. Once verified, the b-lock can unlock a locking mechanism of the b-lock to enable the user to access the shared resource.
