A method and system for road condition monitoring including receiving roadway data from connected vehicles in response to a third party request. The connected vehicles include sensors for capturing the roadway data. The method and system include determining a roadway condition based on the roadway data and calculating a data price based on the roadway condition and the roadway data. Further, the method and system include controlling access to the roadway data according to the data price.

An autonomous vehicle may receive global positioning system (GPS) location data including a drop-off location, a parking location, a pick-up location, a pick-up time, and timing factor information associated with an estimated arrival of the individual at the pick-up location, determine an adjusted pick-up time associated with the pick-up of the individual based on the timing factor, determine a departure time for autonomous pick-up of the individual based on the adjusted pick-up time, autonomously park the autonomous vehicle, by travelling from the drop-off location to the parking location after drop-off of the individual, and autonomously pick-up the individual, by departing, at the departure time, from the parking location and travelling to the pick-up location.

The system and method further include analyzing the reflected vehicle communication signals to determine a received signal strength of each of the reflected vehicle communication signals.

A safety system for an automotive vehicle includes: a dedicated radio to receive and transmit state data between a host vehicle and a remote vehicle; a global positioning system (GPS) receiver; an on-board unit (OBE) to perform a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications so that the host vehicle receives state data of the remove vehicle in a basic safety message (BSM) format; and a safety control unit. In particular, the safety control unit receives the state data of the host and remote vehicles, calculates a separation distance, a prediction horizon time, and then compares the prediction horizon time with a driver reaction time to generate a warning to a driver. More specifically, the safety control unit performs a cost value procedure when a deducted prediction horizon time is greater than zero to determine variable coefficients for estimating a future position and speed of the host and remote vehicles.
