The invention relates to an industrial testing device communicating with a data center located in a remote computer network, such as the cloud. Disclosed is a method of registering the device to the cloud and specifying the geographical location of the data center. The method includes selecting a data center from a list of available data centers based on regulations specific to a device type of the industrial testing device. Features are configured for communication between the device and the selected data center.

Data center selection for communication with an industrial testing device

A non-destructive testing and inspection (NDT/NDI) system having a communication gateway removably secured to an existing NDT/NDI instrument by a clip-on clasp. The gateway comprises a processor, a network interface, a housing configured to be removably secured onto the NDT/NDI instrument, an interconnect configured to be communicatively coupled with and to carry data to or from the NDT/NDI instrument, and memory storing computer readable code which, when executed on the processor, causes the processor to communicate data with an external network over the network interface. The data includes inspection data which can be any one of the following: ultrasonic scans of A, B, C or S, eddy current strip charts.

Method and apparatus for communication of data between NDT/NDI instrument and an external network

Disclosed is a document holder assembly for attachment to a mobile device or its enclosure. The document holder assembly has an imaging position in which the document is positioned in the line of sight of the device camera, and a folded position in which the assembly is conveniently stored close to the attachment face. In some embodiments the distance between the document and the camera in the imaging position may be adjusted to achieve an optimum document image.

A peak visualization enhancement system for use with a non-destructive inspection (NDI) instrument using a digital display which replicates the haloing effect of analog cathode ray tube (CRT) displays. A peak detection algorithm is provided which intelligently selects the peak values from within the uncompressed digitized waveform while taking measures to prevent noise spikes and the like from being identified as valid waveform peaks. The digital display then highlights the identified peaks, or a subset of the identified peaks, on the compressed waveform display. In this way the effect of bright spots (halos) about the zero slope points on a waveform displayed on an analog CRT is replicated in a digitally compressed waveform display.
