A hinge joint for use in the seat of a motor vehicle to pivotally connect the back rest to the body supporting portion has first and second leaves which are affixed to the body supporting portion and to the back rest, respectively, and a pintle which can be rotated by a wheel or by a motor and carries an eccentric installed in an opening of one of the leaves. The eccentric is assembled of two spring-biased arcuate mirror symmetrical sections and a sickle-shaped centering section. The other leaf is rotatably mounted on the pintle. When the pintle is rotated, an arm or a lobe of a motion transmitting member which is affixed to the pintle first disengages the two mirror symmetrical sections from the one leaf so that the one leaf is thereupon engaged only by the centering section while the teeth of an internal gear on one of the leaves roll along the teeth of a spur gear on the other of the leaves.

An adjusting arrangement for inclination adjustment of a backrest of a seat has two hinges adjustably connecting the backrest with a seat part at each side and having first and second hinge levers associated with the backrest and the seat part and connected with one another by a pivot axle, and a displacing and fixing device determining the position of the hinge lever relative to one another and formed as a wobble drive including an eccentric associated with the pivot axle and retained in a force-transmitting abutment on the pivot axle, wherein the pivot axle is formed as a continuous shaft which connects the hinges with one another and has end portions supporting the hinge levers, the shaft having a recess provided in each of the end portions and receiving the eccentric, and each hinge lever surrounding the eccentric received in the recess.

Adjusting arrangement for seat, particularly power vehicle seat

Position adjuster for the angular or vertical adjustment of a motor vehicle seat or for lifting a window, includes two mount levers connected respectively to a pair of wobble gears controlled by an eccentric; the eccentric is formed of a carrier disk rigidly connected to a rotary shaft and defining a concentric circumferential portion limited by two radially directed abutment surfaces and forming with the center of the shaft an angle of more than 180.degree.; the eccentric part is formed of two circumferentially movable wedge-like segments urged one from the other by a pressure spring so that during the rest position of the adjuster the segments are in their locking position, in which radial play in bearings and backlash in the teeth of wobble gears is eliminated; during the rotation of the shaft, one of the segments is displaced against the biasing spring and radial play facilitating the manipulation is introduced between the wobble gears.
