This invention relates to a vehicle-mounted closed circuit portable crushing and screening plant in which a plurality of units for processing material to be crushed, such as a grizzly, a primary crusher, and a secondary crusher are mounted to discharge their outputs onto the horizontal feeder portion of a dual belt conveyor-elevator having an elevator portion which receives the deposited material from the horizontal feeder portion and elevates such material to and discharges such material into the upper feed end of a vibrating screen device mounted on the vehicle. The vibrating screen device classifies the material deposited thereon for recirculation to the secondary crusher and/or for discharge as a plurality of end products of predetermined size classifications. The vibrating screen device and the dual belt conveyor-elevator are both foldable from an elevated operating position to a retracted transport or storage position. The portable crushing and screening plant of the invention has particular utility for processing of gravel or stone for commercial use, including sizing and sorting such gravel or stone, but may also be used for processing other material such as mineral ore.

Portable crushing and screening plant

A mobile, portable crushing and screening plant includes a crusher (17), a screening device (31), and a conveyor (46) mounted on the trailer having a main frame (11) and support wheels (21-24). The screening device (31) is hinged for vertical swinging movement between a raised operating position and a lowered transport position. The conveyor mechanism (46) includes an elevating section (95) having a pair of hinged segments (103, 104) which are connected to the elevatable end of the screening device (31) so that both the hinged segments (103, 104) are raised and lowered between their operating and transport positions when the screening device (31) is moved by hydraulic actuators (121, 122) between its operating and transport positions. The main conveyor belt (48) passes rearwardly between the laterally spaced trailer wheels (21, 22 and 23, 24) with the working run being above and the return run being below the transverse wheel axles (73, 74). A receiving chute (47) for the main conveyor belt (48) is disposed rearwardly of the trailer main frame (11) and is mounted on a hinged section (79) of the conveyor (46) which is pivoted to the trailer main frame (11) adjacent the trailer wheels for swinging movement between a lowered operating position and a raised transport position.

An elevating conveyor for a portable luffing stacker adapted to be collapsed and folded from an erected operational position to a compactly folded transport position. An elevating conveyor frame, which supports an endless belt conveyor has five frame sections pivotally connected to each other an canted to permit compact folding of the frame sections. A mast structure, which supports the elevating conveyor frame when in its operational position, includes a tower mast section pivotally foldable relative to a base mast section to a horizontal transport position about a substantially horizontal first pivotal axis and a telescopic mast section supporting the elevating conveyor frame which is telescopically movable relative to the tower mast structure upwardly to an operational position or downwardly to a retracted transport position. When in retracted position, the telescopic mast section is foldable to transport position about a horizontal second pivotal axis which coincides with the axis about which the tower mast section structure folds to transport position. A unique hydraulic ram and chain arrangement provides vertical movement of the telescopic mast section and the attached elevating conveyor frame.
