The invention relates to an apparatus for processing lumpy, essentially spherical material such as pellets, so that the lumpy material can be applied on a surface that is set in an essentially continuous motion, as an advantageous layer for the further processing of said material, said apparatus comprising means ( ) for conveying the material and for feeding the material onto a surface ( ) that is set in an essentially continuous motion. According to the invention, the conveyor ( ) is installed movably in an alternating motion between two positions ( ) in order to feed the material conveyed by the conveyor ( ) as a layer ( ) that is advantageous both in thickness and in cross-section onto a surface ( ) set in an essentially continuous motion.

Apparatus for processing lumpy material

The invention relates to an apparatus for conducting gas through material (,) to be sintered, which material is set in an essentially continuous motion, particularly when gas is used for sintering the material; said apparatus comprises a flow guide (,) for conducting gas essentially near to the material (,) to be sintered, and a gas collecting member (,) for collecting the gas that has been made to penetrate the material to be sintered. According to the invention, in the gas flow guide (,) the gas inlet (,) is located centrally with respect to the material (,) to be sintered, and the gas outlet (,) extends essentially over the whole material to be sintered in the transversal direction, when observed in the proceeding direction of said material; and the gas collecting member (,) is composed of funnel elements (,), which are installed essentially at the gas flow apertures (,) provided in the member for conveying the material to be sintered.
