A down-converter for receiving a multiband radio frequency signal (RF) and a local oscillator signal comprises a frequency divider and a heterodyne receive chain. The frequency divider is configured to divide the local oscillator signal and provide different divided local oscillator signals. The heterodyne receive chain comprises a first stage mixer and second stage mixers. The first stage mixer is configured to mix the multiband radio frequency signal and either the local oscillator signal or a divided local oscillator signal to generate a first intermediate frequency signal. Each second stage mixer is configured to mix the first intermediate signal and a divided local oscillator signal to generate second intermediate frequency signals that each represent a band from the multiband radio frequency signal. The frequency divider is configured to provide a different divided local oscillator signal to each of the second stage mixers.

Down-converter

Capacitive circuits are implemented with desirable quality factors in various implementations. According to an example embodiment, a fringe capacitor includes two capacitive circuits (e.g., plates), respectively having a plurality of capacitive fingers extending from an end structure, and respectively having a connecting pin that is adjacent the connecting pin of the other capacitive circuit, on a common side fringe capacitor. The capacitive fingers are arranged in stacked layers, with vias connecting the fingers in different layers back to the connecting pins.

The invention relates to a receiver () comprising an amplifier (-) for amplifying an antenna signal, which amplifier (-) comprises an amplifier input () and an amplifier output (), the amplifier input (11) being a single ended input for receiving the antenna signal, the amplifier output () being a differential output, and the amplifier (-) comprising a circuit () for compensating a series input impedance of the amplifier (-).

Present invention relates to an oscillator circuit comprising: resonator means () and, first and second emitter followers () being symmetrically coupled to the resonator means and been connected to further emitter followers () for providing capacitive loading.

Oscillator circuit

A transmission lines arrangement comprising a first plurality of transmission lines each transmission line having an effective characteristic impedance. The arrangement further comprises a second plurality of transmission lines, said first plurality of transmission lines being coupled to a plurality of switching elements. The plurality of switching elements are conceived to redirect an input signal from one transmission line of the first plurality of transmission lines to at least one transmission line of the second plurality of transmission lines. The arrangement is characterized in that each of the switching elements of the plurality of switching elements have a relatively high input impedance in comparison with the effective characteristic impedance and a relatively high output impedance in comparison with the effective characteristic impedance. Furthermore, each transmission line of the first plurality of transmission lines is further coupled to an impedance that is substantially equal to the effective characteristic impedance of said transmission line.

An amplifier, in particular an RF amplifier is described having an amplifier input, the amplifier comprises: a first controllable semiconductor having a first controllable mainstream path coupled to first source means for controlling the first mainstream path, and having a first biased control input; and a second controllable semiconductor having a second controllable mainstream path coupled to second source means for controlling the second mainstream path, and having a second control input coupled to the first main stream path and to the amplifier input. Both the first and second mainstream paths are coupled to a common load, and the first and second source means are arranged for controlling input impedance and noise impedance respectively of the amplifier input. This amplifier arrangement allows independent control and optimisation of both the amplifier input impedance and the noise impedance.
