Systems and methods related to monitoring a status, or health, of a (e.g., massive) Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) transceiver and, in particular, that of an antenna system (e.g., an Advanced Antenna System (AAS)) of the MIMO transceiver are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a radio system implemented in a radio access node to perform supervision of a MIMO transceiver of the radio system comprises performing continuous over-the-air based supervision the MIMO transceiver of the radio system, determining a status of the MIMO transceiver based on results of performing continuous over-the-air based supervision of the MIMO transceiver of the radio system, and taking an action based on the status of the MIMO transceiver.

Massive MIMO AAS supervision

A device for guiding connection installation to communicatively connect a plurality of radio ports of a base station to a plurality of antennas is provided. The device includes a connector configured to communicate with a first radio port of the plurality of radio ports of the base station. The device further includes a receiver in communication with the connector. The receiver is configured to receive first configuration data that is communicated from the first radio port of the plurality of radio ports. The first configuration data indicating a next connection for the first radio port toward one of the plurality of antennas. The device further includes a display and a processor in communication with the receiver and the display. The processor is configured to cause the first configuration data to be displayed on the display.

Device to guide equipment cable installation between radio ports of a base station and multiple antennas

In some embodiments, a node associated with a distributed antenna wireless system obtains one or more combined receive signals responsive to a transmission by the wireless device. The distributed antenna wireless system comprises multiple Remote Radio Heads (RRHs) each comprising one or more receivers. Each receive branch of one or more receive branches of the distributed antenna wireless system comprises a combination of one receiver from each of the RRHs. The one or more combined receive signals comprise, for each receive branch, a combined receive signal that is a combination of signals received by the receivers comprised in the receive branch in accordance with different simultaneous ON/OFF patterns assigned to the RRHs for the receive branches. The node analyzes the one or more combined receive signals to determine information indicative of a geographic location of the wireless device.

Systems and methods for UE positioning in a distributed antenna wireless system

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for controlling loss and theft of a radio equipment of a base station in a cellular communications network. In one embodiment, a radio equipment of a base station of a cellular communications network includes a radio subsystem configured to wirelessly transmit and receive radio signals for the cellular communications network, a local wireless interface, memory, and a controller. During commissioning of the radio equipment, the controller is configured to receive a physical location of the radio equipment and an access password for the radio equipment from a wireless device via a local wireless connection between the radio equipment and the wireless device established via the local wireless interface. The controller is configured to store the physical location of the radio equipment and the access password for the radio equipment in the memory of the radio equipment.

Technique for controlling loss and theft of remote radio equipment in a cellular ad hoc network

The present disclosure relates to local wireless connectivity for a radio equipment of a base station in a cellular communications network. In one embodiment, the radio equipment includes a radio subsystem that transmits and receives radio signals for the cellular communications network, a local wireless interface, and a controller associated with the local wireless interface that is configured to provide access to a maintenance subsystem of the radio equipment via the local wireless interface. Remote access to the maintenance subsystem of the radio equipment via the local wireless interface allows maintenance operations to be performed without the need to physically connect to the radio equipment via a wired connection, which is difficult in many installations.
