An apparatus in which a sheet is advanced into registration with different color information developed on master sheets secured releasably on different drums. Each master sheet is secured to a gripper bar having outwardly extending pins. The pins in the master sheet gripper bars mount in holes in the drum and extend outwardly therefrom. A chain driven gripper bar advances the sheet into registration with successive master sheets. The sheet gripper bar is mounted pivotably and slidably on the chain. The sheet gripper bar has notches in the leading edge thereof to mesh with the pins extending from the master sheet gripper bar. This detachably couples the sheet and the master sheet to move in unison with one another. In this way, the sheet is placed in registration with the different color information developed on each master sheet. After the color information is transferred from the master sheet to the sheet, the sheet gripper is decoupled from the pins and advances with the chain to place the sheet in registration with the next successive master sheet.

A multicolor printing system of the type in which a plurality of latent images are recorded therein. Each one of the plurality of latent images are developed with a different color liquid developer material to form a plurality of different color liquid images. The different color liquid images are transferred, in superimposed registration with one another, to an intermediate member to form a multicolor liquid image thereon. Thereafter, the multicolor liquid image is, in turn, transferred to a sheet and fused thereto.

Multicolor printing system

An apparatus in which latent images are developed with a liquid developer material of selected colors. A plurality of stationarily mounted developer units have liquid developer materials of selected colors supplied thereto. A cleaning material is furnished to clean the liquid developer material from the first developer unit having the liquid developer material supplied thereto prior to the second developer unit having the liquid developer material supplied thereto so as to prevent comingling of different color developer materials during development of the next latent image.

Multicolor liquid ink development system

A printing machine including a drum adapted to have a latent image recorded on the surface thereof. The drum is positioned with the longitudinal axis thereof extending in a direction substantially transverse to the horizontal. The latent image is developed with a liquid developer to form a liquid image on the surface of the drum. The liquid image is transferred to a copy sheet. Residual liquid developer removed from the surface of the drum by the cleaning unit, flows in a downwardly direction under the influence of gravity to a liquid collector housing located at the bottom of the cleaning unit.

Vertically oriented photoconductive drum

A printing apparatus comprising a flexible photoreceptor belt movable past a series of image processing stations, and driven around at least two support rollers, has a developer module having at least two alternately selectable stationary developer housings positioned within the run of the photoreceptor belt between the support rolls together with an articulating backup blade to alternately urge the photoreceptor belt into development engagement with one of the stationary developer housings to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on the belt.

An electrostatographic reproducing apparatus of the two cycle variety wherein a photoconductive belt is arranged to move in a recirculating path, includes a transparent viewing platen together with an optical scanning module positioned between the viewing platen and the photoconductive belt for scanning the viewing platen which includes copy sheet registration rolls which capture the lead edge of a copy sheet at the end of scan position returning the copy sheet to the transfer position near the beginning of scan position to feed the copy sheet in timed relation to the lead edge of the developed toner image on the photoconductive belt where the belt is supported by a support roll thereby providing a short transfer zone.

Reproducing apparatus with optic scanning module

Automatic reproducing apparatus frame assembly for mounting individual reproducing apparatus components thereto including a lower frame member having a plurality of mounting elements attached thereto for mounting at least one reproducing apparatus component thereto, the mounting elements being spaced from each other and arranged in parallel fashion in one direction from one side of the frame member to the opposite side of the frame member whereby components may be mounted to the frame member at one of the alternate mounting elements of the plurality of mounting elements to provide the assembly of automatic reproducing machines having one of a plurality of process widths corresponding to the distance from one side of the frame member to one of the alternate mounting elements. Preferably the lower frame member is a plastic molded frame and the plurality of mounting elements are integrally molded therein. The apparatus may include a rear mounting frame comprising a boot-like cover slidably engageable with the lower frame member, thereby providing a variable dimension frame assembly with common frames front and rear and the capability of using common drive modules and platen drive modules for copiers having different process widths.

Electrostatographic apparatus frame with plural alternative mounting

A cold pressure fuser comprising three rolls two of which have their axes parallel to each other and form a nip through which copy sheets having toner images pass. The third roll serves to apply the required load to the other two rolls to create the required pressure in the nip therebetween. The axis of the third roll is overskewed relative to the other rolls such that the distribution of the load between it and the roll which it contacts is peaked at its center and zero at its ends. A pair of load releasing arms are provided to remove the loading from the rolls to thereby facilitate paper jam clearance.

A method of fabricating seamless tubes of malleable metal is provided comprising supporting an annular work piece of greater wall thickness than the required thickness of the completed tube within a die ring in encircling engagement with its outer surface and applying an axial pull to one end of said work piece to draw it axially through said die ring while simultaneously rolling the interior of the work piece with a forming tool having a plurality of centrifugally loaded rollers so as to enlarge the internal diameter and lengthen the work piece axially in the direction of said axial pull.
