An electrode clamp () for making contact with a film electrode and a snap electrode has a first part (), a second part (), and a contact element (). For clamping a film electrode, the two parts () can be pivoted toward one another. In an initial state of the electrode clamp (), the first part () and the second part () have an offset () relative to one another. The offset can be reduced by movement of the second part () relative to the first part () to such an extent that the snap electrode can be inserted into the electrode clamp. By a reset motion of the second part () relative to the first part () in the direction of the initial state, the snap electrode can be clamped against the contact element () and contact can be made with the snap electrode. The electrode clamp () can be connected in a mechanically detachable manner to the snap electrode.

A process and a device are provided for determining the proportion of a component of the air exhaled by a breathing living being that is characteristic of the metabolic function of such living being. The invention relates to a process for determination of a first component Ain the air exhaled by a patient that is characteristic of the metabolic function of the patient such as carbon dioxide (CO) or oxygen (O), where the exhaled air having at least two components (i=1, 2, . . . ) each having a proportion A. The molecular weights M; and the adiabatic coefficients kof the components are known. The process measures the velocity of sound vin the exhaled air, and the portion Aof the first component in the exhaled air is calculated by use of the measured velocity, at a temperature T of the exhaled air. The proportion of the component is determined by the equation M/k=R&#xd7;T/(v), where M=sum(A&#xd7;M), i=1, 2, . . . , and where Mis the molecular weight of the exhaled air, and 1/(1&#x2212;k)=sum(A/(1&#x2212;k)), i=1, 2, . . . , where kis the adiabatic coefficient, and R is the universal gas constant.

An arrangement for fixing a medical-technical sensor, particularly a pulsoximeter sensor, to a patient's body part includes a carrier for supporting a sensor and a longitudinal opening for receiving the body part. The carrier includes a foam material part elastically deformable for the fixing. The deformation provides a force-accumulation arrangement. The medical-technical sensor for measuring physiological data can be combined with such arrangement. The sensor includes optical electronic measuring parts arranged on the carrier.

A plug connection arrangement or electrical connector includes at least one plug element with an electrical contact member to produce an electrical connection of a cable with a complementary contact member and a connection housing with at least one plug-holding fixture with the complementary contact member. An electrical shielding of the connection housing has a flexible shield contact spring extending into the plug-holding fixture and pre-biased for contacting the complementing contact member of the plug-holding fixture. A coaxial insulating body surrounds the contact member of the plug element in a contact-proof and shock-proof manner. A groove extends in the plug element exterior surface in a longitudinal direction, and holds the contact spring end part upon the insertion of the plug element into the plug-holding fixture.

Electric plug connection arrangement

An electrical connection arrangement has a cutting and clamping contact element including a slot opening for forming the contact with the conductor of an insulated cable. The slot opening has two facing cutting edges and an enlargement serving as the opening for the initial insertion of the end part of the insulated cable. The cutting and clamping contact element is held in the interior of an insulated body. An operating member of insulating material is movably mounted on the insulated body. When a cable is inserted into the enlargement of the cutting and clamping contact element, the cable can be moved by proactive movement of the operating member to form the contact in the zone of the slot opening of the contact element between the cutting edges.

Electrical connection arrangement medical use

A device for applying unipolar electrical charges to a moving, essentially electrically conductive insulating surface. An elongated corona electrode, e.g., including a number of tip electrodes, along with one or more auxiliary electrodes, and an electrically conductive counter electrode, are provided. The counter electrode supports the insulating surface, and a high-voltage d.c. source is connected to the electrodes. A carrier made of electrically insulating material is provided in the form of a channel, including a bottom wall and two side walls. The free edges of the side walls face the counter electrode. The corona electrode is arranged in the channel and at the bottom wall, and does not project over the free edges of the side walls. The auxiliary electrode(s) is arranged at, or in the vicinity of, each edge of the side walls, between the corona electrode and the counter electrode. One pole of the high-voltage d.c. source is connected to the corona electrode, and the other pole is connected to the counter and auxiliary electrode(s). An ohmic resistor is connected between the other pole of the high-voltage d.c. source and the auxiliary electrodes.

A device for neutralizing electrostatic charges by way of corona discharge comprises discharge electrodes and earthed counterelectrodes, the discharge electrodes being capacitively connected to an alternating high-voltage source. A row of individual discharge electrodes is applied to one side of a carrier consisting of dielectric material galvanically separated from one another in the form of thin, electrically conductive layers. A continuous, electrically conductive coating is arranged on the other side of the carrier and opposite to the discharge electrodes, this coating being connected to the high-voltage source and providing a capacitive coupling of the discharge electrodes to the high voltage.

Device for neutralizing electrostatic charges

A shielded electrical connector having an elongated annular housing composed of an electrically insulative material molded so as to form an elongated structure for the connector and at least a portion of a grasp for a user of said connector. The housing defines outside and inside surfaces and front and rear ends for said connector. A contact holding portion composed of an electrically insulative material is positioned inside said annular housing and includes a plurality of electrically conductive signal contacts positioned therein so as to be completely surrounded by, yet spaced a distance away from, the inside surface of the housing. An elongated annular electrically conductive shield having inner and outer sides is insert molded with the housing so as to be disposed between its outside and inside surfaces. The elongated shield has a proximal end adapted for being coupled to a common shield associated with the plurality of signal conductors and a distal end extending to and encapsulated by the front end of the housing, yet the front end of the housing leaving an unencapsulated portion of the inside surface of the shield which is spaced a predetermined distance away from the front end of the housing. The un-encapsulated portion of the inside surface of the shield is adapted for making electrical contact with a shield of a mating multi-conductor connector so as to provide an effectively continuous conductive shield which completely surrounds the electrically conductive signal contacts.

A liquid and gas impenetrable switch, especially for electrical surgical instruments, has two pairs of contacts spaced from one another. The movable contact element of each pair is arranged between the associated fixed contact element and a diaphragm. With elastic deformation, the diaphragm and movable contacts can be moved by the switch operating force into contact with the fixed contact elements. The diaphragm covers the movable contact elements and is supported by a rocker.

A sensor for the noninvasive measurement of the pulse rate and/or oxygen saturation of the blood of a person has a housing holding a transmitter and a receiver. The housing has thin, light-permeable layers in the areas of the light source surface of the transmitter and the light detecting surface of the receiver. Both the transmitter and the receiver are mounted on a flexible conductor plate. The housing is formed of a tight sheathing covering the transmitter, the receiver and the conductor plate supporting the transmitter and receiver.

An optoelectronic sensor produces electrical signals representative of measurements of physiological values, especially the circulation parameters of a person. The sensor has at least one radiation transmitter and at least one receiver for radiation influenced by the physiological values being measured. The transmitter and receiver are covered with a transparent adhesive layer on their sides turned toward the object to be measured. The layer is transparent and adhesive at least on its side turned toward to the object to be measured. This transparent layer engages directly on the radiation outlet surface of the radiation transmitter and the radiation admission surface of the radiation receiver.

(t) of a measurement value that changes during one pulse wave with the blood pressure of the organism and thereby with time, and transmits this value through signals; a pair of pressure sleeves for connecting the sensors with tissue of the organism through which arterial blood flows; and an electrical unit (21) for evaluating the signals of the mentioned sensors. The method includes setting two subdiastolic pressures which differ from each other by a small value in the two sleeves, transmitting signals obtained from the two sensors (18, 19) to the evaluating unit (21), and determining a circulatory function of the organism from transmitted signals in the evaluating unit.

A holder sleeve locks a detecting and measuring sensor into position, especially a detecting and measuring sensor for oximetric measurements, on the surface of a protruding part of a human body. The sensor includes a light source and a receiver which is sensitive to its radiation. The sleeve is elastically expandable and completely surrounds the body protruding part. each of two diametrically opposite sections of the sleeve has a recess opening to the sleeve inside surface or is radiation-permeable to receive and hold the transmitter or the receiver. Both portions of the sleeve lying between these sections have pluralities of folds following one another around the sleeve periphery, with each fold forming a spring.
