The present invention relates to an optical unit comprising three lens groups, i.e., a first lens group, a second lens group and a third lens group, and an optical unit comprising four lens groups, i.e., a first lens group, a second lens group a third lens group and a fourth lens group, which are arranged in order from an object side toward an image side surface side, wherein one or more of said lens groups comprise a substrate having a curved optical surface, wherein said curved optical surface is provided with a polymer layer.

The present invention relates to method of fabricating a wafer level optical lens assembly. The method includes providing a wafer substrate having a plurality of lens shapes arranged side by side, and providing a spacer substrate having a plurality of spacer posts. The method further includes applying a first polymer liquid on a specific location chosen from the group of: (1) positions located on the wafer substrate between the plurality of lens shapes; (2) positions located on the contact surface of the spacer posts; and (3) a combination thereof. The method further includes contacting the wafer substrate with the spacer substrate such that the spacer posts force the first polymer liquid to flow towards the lens shapes, followed by curing the first polymer liquid, and applying a second polymer liquid onto the lens shapes.

In order to manufacture optical devices, such as lenses having a larger NA-value, it is proposed according to the present invention that the replication method is repeated at least two times while using the same or different molds, and that the substrate, together with one or more replica layers obtained during one or more previous runs of the replication method, is used as a substrate for the next run of the replication method.

The invention relates to a camera device and a method for manufacturing such a device. The camera device comprises an image capturing element, a lens element for imaging an object at the image capturing element and a spacer means for maintaining a predetermined distance along the main optical axis though the lens and the image capturing element, and lens substrate for carrying the lens wherein the spacer means comprises an adhesive layer. This enables a mass manufacturing process wherein parts of the individual camera elements can be manufactured in manifold on different substrates, after which the different substrates are stacked, aligned and joined via adhesive layers. In the manufacturing process the different distances between the plates and the wafers are adjusted and maintained via the spacer means comprising the adhesive layers. From the stack individual camera devices are sawn out.
