An exemplary compounding system and method can include two pump heads for simultaneously drawing two different fluids from at least two separate input containers such that the at least two different fluids are mixed and distributed to an output container. The system can include a manifold that maintains separation of certain of the different fluids until after passing by a first pump and a second pump and/or additional pumps. A junction can be placed in the fluid line downstream of the first and second pumps and/or additional pumps such that all or some of the fluids are mixed prior to output to the output container. The method of using the system can include incorporating software that selects various fluids at certain times and sequences to ensure optimum efficiency and safety for the system, and can continue compounding actions even when an input supply container runs out or otherwise fails to supply a particular fluid/material. The method of use also includes connection of a transfer set to a housing in a manner that further ensures optimum efficiency and safety.

Compounding device, system, kit, software, and method

A cassette with free flow prevention for use with an ambulatory pump. The cassette includes a free flow prevention clamp and a housing. The free flow prevention clamp includes a clamping section having a first side and a second side, a first elongate section extending from the first side, and a second elongate section extending from the second side. The housing supports the free flow prevention clamp and defines a channel for receiving a tube. The elongate sections extend parallel to the channel and the clamping section extends across the channel. The free flow prevention clamp is configurable within the housing in an open condition that allows fluid flow through the tube when force is applied to one of the elongate sections and in a closed condition that prevents fluid flow through the tube when the force is removed from the elongate sections.

The disclosed subject matter relates to a valve device that includes a valve member located within a housing in which the valve member's operation can be bypassed. For example, the valve device can include a bypass device that has an input structure, a motion conversion structure, and an output structure. The input structure can include a portion configured to resiliently deform if a valve opening input force is applied to the input structure in an input direction. The motion conversion structure can be configured to convert the valve opening input force into motion of the output structure in an output direction that is non-parallel to the input direction. The output structure can be configured to move the valve member (e.g., from a closed state to an opened state in order to bypass normal valve operation) if the motion conversion structure is displaced in the input direction. The valve device can be used in various manners, and is particularly suitable for use in a patient fluid delivery system.

Needleless access port valves are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to needleless access port valves incorporating a piston comprising slit along an upper piston section for accommodating fluid flow. The slit opens when the piston is compressed by a medical implement, such as a syringe tip, to permit fluid communication between the inlet and the outlet of the vale housing. The slit may be cut using high frequency cutting machine or a multi-axis robot arm and a cutting blade.

The catheter hub has a valve or a septum for stopping or slowing down the flow of fluid in or out of the catheter hub when the valve or septum is closed. Needleless access port valves are generally discussed herein with particular discussions extended to needleless access port valves having a pliant valve piston and/or plug that exudes silicone oil when stressed or squeezed while providing antimicrobial agents within and on the surface of the piston and/or plug. The pliant valve piston may have an integrally formed plug and one or more ports or a separately formed plug located inside a plastic housing. The plug cooperates with a nozzle on the inlet connector assembly to form a slip port or a Luer inlet, which can open when exerted by force to permit flow or closes when the force is removed.
