Adjustable armrest with integral vehicle controls

A lock mechanism includes a locking pawl which is movable to a pedal-lock position for preventing a brake pedal from returning from a brake-engage to a normal brake-release position. The pawl is biased toward a pedal-lock position but is normally held in a pedal-release position through means of an actuator rod that is biased to a pawl-retain position. The rod has a foot-engageable portion so located that an operator can use one foot to simultaneously move the brake pedal to its brake-engage position and move the actuator to a pawl-release position permitting the pawl to move its pedal-lock position. The lock mechanism is constructed such that once the operator removes his foot from the locked brake pedal the actuator rod will move to an intermediate position spaced from the brake pedal and in which it is held by the engaged locking pawl so as to permit the operator to re-engage his foot with the brake pedal to overtravel the latter without again engaging the actuator rod, such overtravelling releasing the locking pawl and hence the actuator rod whereby the biasing force acting on the rod returns it and the pawl respectively to their pawl-retain and pedal release positions.

Service brake lock mechanism

A control linkage for controlling operation of a control valve of a remote hydraulically operated device is mounted in a vehicle cab and includes a control lever located between the vehicle seat and a door to the cab so as to be within easy reach of a seated operator. When in a normal working position, the lever is located such that it may present an obstacle to operator entry and exit and may be accidently bumped so as to effect actuation of the control valve. In order to prevent this accidental actuation of the control valve, the control linkage includes a safety lever or bar movable between a first position wherein it holds a locking element away from the control lever and extends in blocking relationship to the path of movement of the operator between the seat and door opening, and a second position wherein it is disposed so as to be clear of the path of movement of an operator between the seat and the door and holds a locking element in engagement with the control lever so as to hold the latter in a stored or non-use position out of the path of movement of the operator. The safety lever is inter-connected with the control lever such that when the safety bar is moved from its first to its second position the control lever will move from its normal neutral position to its stored position for locking engagement by the locking element.

A vehicle cab is provided with a structure which includes a pivotal rod that serves as a grab handle for aiding an operator in mounting the vehicle and cooperates with a guide bracket fixed to the cab door so as to resist movement of the door from an open position toward a closed position.

A vehicle cab includes a window designed to be removed from its framework so as to permit the egress of an operator in the event that the vehicle is involved in an accident and other cab exits are blocked. The inside of the window is provided with a latch comprising a bar mounted in the cab for movement between a stored position adjacent the window and out of engagement with a latch pin fixed to framework within the cab and a latched position wherein a notch located in the bar receives the pin, the latching bar then extending to a position requiring the back of the operator's seat to be pivoted forwardly to remind the operator to unlatch the window once he enters the cab to operate the vehicle.
